Chapter on Obedience to Leaders - On fulfilling one's obligations even under unjust rulers
Hadith Number: 4587
اخبرنا علي بن الحسن بن سلم ، قال: حدثنا محمد بن عصام بن يزيد ، قال: حدثنا ابي ، قال: حدثنا سفيان ، عن الاعمش ، عن زيد بن وهب ، عن ابن مسعود ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم:" إنها ستكون اثرة وامور تنكرونها". قالوا: يا رسول الله، فما تامرنا؟ قال:" تؤدون الحق الذي عليكم، وتسالون الذي لكم" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Soon there will be preferential treatment (shown to others over you) and things will appear which you will dislike." The people asked: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What do you command us to do in such a situation?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fulfill the obligation that is upon you, and ask Allah for your rights."
