Chapter on Etiquette of Sleep – On the obligation to avoid sleeping before the night prayer
Hadith Number: 5547
اخبرنا الحسن بن سفيان ، قال: حدثنا حميد بن مسعدة ، قال: حدثنا جعفر بن سليمان ، قال: حدثنا هشام بن عروة ، عن ابيه ، قال: سمعتني عائشة ، وانا اتكلم بعد العشاء الآخرة، فقالت:" يا عري، الا تريح كاتبك، فإن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لم يكن ينام قبلها، ولا يتحدث بعدها" .
Hisham bin Urwah narrates from his father: Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) heard me talking after the Isha prayer, so she said: O Urwah, will you not let your scribe (i.e., the angels who record good deeds) rest? The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would not sleep before the Isha prayer, nor would he engage in conversation after it.
