Chapter on Humility, Arrogance, and Conceit – On the obligation to be humble and avoid arrogance and self-exaltation
Hadith Number: 5671
اخبرنا ابو يعلى ، قال: حدثنا إبراهيم بن الحجاج السامي ، قال: حدثنا حماد بن سلمة ، عن عطاء بن السائب ، عن سلمان الاغر، عن ابي هريرة ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال فيما يحكي عن ربه جل وعلا: " الكبرياء ردائي، والعظمة إزاري، فمن نازعني واحدا منهما، قذفته في النار" .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) conveyed this statement from his Lord: "Majesty is My cloak and greatness is My lower garment. Whoever tries to compete with Me regarding either of them, I will cast him into Hell."
