حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا الزهري ، عن عبيد الله بن عبد الله ، عن ابن عباس ، عن امه ام الفضل ، قالت:" سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقرا في المغرب: والمرسلات عرفا" , فقيل لسفيان: فإنهم يقولون: تمام بن عباس، فقال: ما سمعت الزهري قط ذكر تماما، ما قال لنا، إلا عن ابن عباس , عن امه.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates from his mother, Sayyida Umm Fadl (may Allah be pleased with her): I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting Surah «وَالْمُرْسَلاتِ عُرْفًا» in the Maghrib prayer. Sufyan was told: People say that Tamam bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated this tradition, so Sufyan said: I have never heard Zuhri mentioning Tamam bin Abbas. He has always narrated this tradition from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) from his mother.

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا سالم ابو النضر , انه سمع عميرا مولى ام الفضل يحدث، عن ام الفضل ، قالت:" شك الناس في صيام رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يوم عرفة، فارسلت إليه بإناء فيه لبن، فشرب" ، وكان سفيان ربما قال في هذا الحديث: يشك الناس في صيام رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يوم عرفة فارسلت إليه ام الفضل.... فإذا وقف عليه، قال: هو عن ام الفضل.
Lady Umm Fadl (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: On the day of Arafah, people were in doubt about whether the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was fasting, so I sent a vessel containing milk to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drank it. The narrator named Sufyan sometimes narrates these words in this narration: People expressed doubt about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fasting on the day of Arafah, so Lady Umm Fadl (may Allah be pleased with her) sent [something] to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When Sufyan was alerted about this, he said: This narration is transmitted from Lady Umm Fadl (may Allah be pleased with her).
