حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا ابو يعفور العبدي ، قال: اتيت عبد الله بن ابي اوفى ، فسالته عن اكل الجراد، فقال: " غزوت مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ست غزوات او سبع، فكنا ناكل الجراد" .
Abu Ya'fur 'Abdi narrates: I was present in the company of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him). I asked him about eating locusts. He replied: I participated in six (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words) or seven battles with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). We used to eat locusts.

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا ابو إسحاق الشيباني ، قال: سمعت عبد الله بن ابي اوفى ، يقول: كنت مع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في سفر، فقال لرجل:" انزل فاجدح لي"، قال: الشمس يا رسول الله، قال:" انزل فاجدح لي"، قال: الشمس يا رسول الله!، قال:" انزل فاجدح"، فنزل فجدح له، قال: فشرب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، ثم رمى بيده قبل المشرق، فقال:" إذا رايتم الليل قد اقبل من هاهنا، فقد افطر الصائم" .
Abu Ishaq Shaybani narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abu Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: I was traveling with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to a man: "Get down and mix sattu (barley flour) in water for us." He replied: "O Messenger of Allah! It is still sunny." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Get down and mix sattu for us." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) got down, and he mixed sattu in water for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drank it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed with his blessed hand towards the east and said: "When you see the night coming from this direction, then the fasting person should break his fast."

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا ابو إسحاق الشيباني ، قال: سمعت عبد الله بن ابي اوفى ، يقول:" نهى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، عن الشرب في الجر الاخضر والابيض" . قال سفيان: وثالثا قد نسيته.
Abu Ishaq Shaybani narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade drinking from green and white pitchers. Sufyan says: I have forgotten the third thing.

حدثنا سفيان ، حدثنا ابو إسحاق الشيباني ، قال: سمعت عبد الله بن ابي اوفى ، يقول:" اصبنا حمرا يوم خيبر خارجا من القرية، فنحرناها، فإن القدور لتغلي بها، إذ نادى منادي النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: ان اكفئوا القدور بما فيها، فاكفيناها، وإنها لتفور" . قال ابو إسحاق: فلقيت سعيد بن جبير، فذكرت ذلك له، فقال: إنما كانت تلك حميرا تاكل العذرة، فنهى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم عنها.
Abu Ishaq Shaybani narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abu Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: On the occasion of the Battle of Khaybar, we found some donkeys outside the settlement, so we slaughtered them and their meat was being cooked in pots. In the meantime, an announcer from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made this announcement: "You people, turn over your pots along with whatever is in them!" So we turned them over even though they were boiling. (That is, the food was fully cooked.) The narrator named Abu Ishaq says: I met Sa'id bin Jubayr and mentioned this matter to him, so he said: These were the donkeys that used to eat filth, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade them.

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا يزيد ابو خالد الدالاني ، ومسعر بن كدام ، عن إبراهيم السكسكي ، عن عبد الله بن ابي اوفى , ان رجلا قال للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: علمني يا رسول الله شيئا اقوله يجزئني من القرآن، فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: " قل: سبحان الله، والحمد لله، ولا إله إلا الله، والله اكبر" . قال سفيان: لا اعلم، إلا انه قال:" ولا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man presented himself before the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Teach me something that I may recite, which will suffice me in place of reciting the Qur'an. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Recite this. «سبحان الله والحمدلله ولا اله الاالله والله اكبر» . Sufyan says: I do not know, however, perhaps he also said these words «ولا حول ولاقوة الا بالله» .

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا إبراهيم بن مسلم الهجري , انه راى عبد الله بن ابي اوفى في جنازة ابنة له على بغلة تقاد به، فيقول للقائد: اين انا منها؟ فإذا قيل له: امامها، قال: احبس، قال: ورايته حين صلى عليها كبر اربعا، ثم قام ساعة، فسبح به القوم، فسلم، ثم قال: اكنتم ترون اني ازيد على اربع؟ وقد رايت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كبر اربعا، وسمع نساء يرثين فنهاهن"، وقال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ينهى عن المراثي" .
Ibrahim bin Muslim Hadi narrates: He saw Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) participating in the funeral of his daughter. He was riding a mule, which was being led forward. So he said to the one leading the mule: "Where am I in relation to the funeral?" When he was told: "You are ahead of it," he said: "Stop it." The narrator says: I saw him say four takbirs in the funeral prayer for that woman, then he stood for a little while, so the attendees began to say "Subhan Allah" (i.e., they wanted to draw his attention). Then he said the salam. He said: "Did you think that I would say more than four takbirs, while I saw the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say four takbirs?" Then he heard some women reciting elegies, so he forbade them from it and said: "I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) forbidding the recitation of elegies."

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا إسماعيل بن ابي خالد ، قال: سمعت عبد الله بن ابي اوفى ، قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يوم الاحزاب، وهو يقول: " اللهم منزل الكتاب، سريع الحساب، مجري السحاب، اهزم الاحزاب، اللهم اهزمهم وزلزلهم" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abu Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the day of the Battle of Ahzab, I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting: "O Allah! O Revealer of the Book! O Swift in reckoning! O Mover of the clouds! Defeat the enemy armies. O Allah! Defeat them and make them tremble."

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا ابن ابي خالد ، قال: قلت لعبد الله بن ابي اوفى : " ابشر رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم خديجة ببيت في الجنة، من قصب، لا سخب فيه ولا نصب؟ قال: نعم" .
Ibn Abu Khalid narrates: I asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abu Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him): Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) give glad tidings to Sayyidah Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her) of a house in Paradise made of hollow pearls, in which there would be no noise and no hardship? He replied: "Yes."

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا إسماعيل بن ابي خالد ، قال: سمعت عبد الله بن ابي اوفى ، يقول: " اعتمرنا مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فكنا نستره حين طاف من صبيان اهل مكة لا يؤذونه" . قال سفيان: اراه في عمرة القضاء، قال إسماعيل: وارانا ابن ابي اوفى ضربة اصابته مع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يوم حنين.
Ismail bin Abu Khalid narrates: I heard Abdullah bin Abu Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: We performed ‘Umrah with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and during the Tawaf, we were trying to protect the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from the children of Makkah, lest they cause him any harm. Sufyan says: I think this was on the occasion of the ‘Umrah of Qada. The narrator named Ismail states: Abdullah bin Abu Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) showed us the wound he received while participating with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the Battle of Hunayn.

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا مالك بن مغول ، عن طلحة بن مصرف ، قال: سالت عبد الله بن ابي اوفى :" هل اوصى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم؟ فقال: لم يترك رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم شيئا يوصي فيه، قلت: وكيف امر الناس بالوصية ولم يوص؟ قال: اوصى بكتاب الله" . قال طلحة: قال الهزيل بن شرحبيل: ابو بكر يتقدم على وصى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم؟ ود ابو بكر انه وجد من رسول الله عهدا، فخزم به انفه.
Talhah bin Musarrif narrates: I asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him): Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) make any bequest (wasiyyah)? He replied: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not leave anything about which he would make a bequest. I asked: Then why did he (peace and blessings be upon him) command people to make bequests, while he himself did not make one? He replied: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made a bequest according to the Book of Allah, the Exalted. The narrator named Talhah says: Huzail bin Shurahbil says: Could Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) surpass someone about whom the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had made a bequest? Whereas Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was eager to know any command of Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and to accept it completely.
