حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا الزهري ، قال: اخبرني عبيد الله بن عبد الله بن عتبة ، انه سمع ابن عباس ، يقول: اخبرني الصعب بن جثامة ، قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، يقول:" وسئل عن اهل الدار من المشركين يبيتون، فيصاب من نسائهم وذراريهم؟"، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: هم منهم" , قال سفيان: وكان عمرو حدثناه اولا، عن الزهري، فقال فيه:" هم من آبائهم"، فلما جاءنا الزهري تفقدته فلم يقل إلا:" هم منهم".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Sayyiduna Sa'b bin Jaththamah (may Allah be pleased with him) informed me that he heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the polytheists residing in a certain area, upon whom an attack is made at night, and in which their women and children are killed. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They are part of them." Sufyan says: The narrator named Amr had previously narrated this report from Zuhri, and in it these words were mentioned: "They are from their ancestors." But when Zuhri came to us, I did not hear these words from him. He only narrated these words: "They are part of them."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates from Sayyiduna Sa'b bin Jaththamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The pasture is only for Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)."

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا الزهري ، قال: اخبرني عبيد الله بن عبد الله ، انه سمع ابن عباس ، يقول: اخبرني الصعب بن جثامة، قال: اهديت لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لحم حمار وحش، وهو بالابواء، او بودان، فرده علي، فلما راى الكراهية في وجهي، قال:" إنه ليس بنا رد عليك، ولكنا حرم" , قال الحميدي: وكان سفيان ربما جمعهما مرة في حديث واحد وربما فرقهما، وكان سفيان، يقول: حمار وحش، ثم صار إلى لحم حمار وحش".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates the statement of Sayyiduna Sa'b bin Jaththamah (may Allah be pleased with him): I presented the meat of a wild ass (nilgai) to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). At that time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was at the place of "Abwa" or perhaps "Waddan." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned it to me. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw signs of displeasure on my face, he said: "We did not return it to you because of any dislike, but because we are in the state of ihram."
Imam Humaydi (may Allah have mercy on him) states: Sufyan would sometimes combine both narrations and relate them as a single hadith, and sometimes he would narrate them separately. At first, Sufyan would only narrate the words "wild ass (nilgai)," but later he began to narrate the words "the meat of a wild ass (nilgai)."
