673| Recommendation to seek rain through some relatives of the Prophet (ﷺ) in the town
Hadith Number: 1421
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when people suffered from drought during the time of Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), he would seek rain through Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him). He would supplicate: "O Allah, when we were afflicted with drought, we used to seek rain through Your Prophet, and You would grant us rain. Today, we seek rain through the uncle of Your Prophet or the uncle of our Prophet." (Sayyiduna Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, said that) the people were granted rain. Muhammad bin Abdullah Ansari says: I have seen written in my own handwriting in my book only the words "fa yusqawna" (so they are given to drink).
674| Repeating the second sermon after the rain prayer
Hadith Number: 1422
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once went out to pray for rain, so he (peace be upon him) led us in two rak‘ahs without adhan or iqamah. Then he (peace be upon him) delivered a sermon to us, supplicated to Allah Almighty, turned his blessed face towards the qiblah, and raised both hands (for supplication). Then he (peace be upon him) turned his cloak, placing its right side on the left and its left side on the right. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that he does not feel at ease regarding Nu‘man bin Rashid, because his narrations from Imam Zuhri are very much mixed up. Therefore, if this hadith is proven authentic, then it contains evidence that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered the sermon, supplicated, and changed his cloak twice: once before the prayer and once after the prayer.

675| Rain prayer in the Friday sermon
Hadith Number: Q1423
If the imam is complained to about drought, and the imam supplicates for the withholding of rain from the cities and villages, if he is complained to about the abundance of rain and there is fear of the destruction of buildings and the cutting off of roads.
Hadith Number: 1423
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering the Friday sermon when people stood up towards him and began to loudly say, "O Messenger of Allah, there is a severe shortage of rain. The trees have turned red (dried up) and the animals are dying. Pray to Allah, the Exalted, that He may grant us rain." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed «اللَٰهُمَّ اسْقِنَا، اللَٰهُمَّ اسْقِنَا» "O Allah, quench us with rain. O Allah, give us water to drink." Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says, "By Allah, there was not a single patch of cloud visible in the sky when suddenly a small cloud appeared and spread across the entire sky. Then it rained. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) descended from the pulpit, led the prayer, and went (home). It continued to rain until the next Friday. Then, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up to deliver the sermon, people loudly said, 'O Messenger of Allah, the houses have collapsed and the roads are blocked. Pray to Allah, the Exalted, that He may withhold the rain from us.' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled and prayed «اللَٰهُمَّ حَوَالَيْنَا وَلاَ عَلَيْنَا» 'O Allah, let it rain around us, not upon us.' Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says, 'The clouds cleared from over Madinah, and it rained around Madinah, while not a single drop fell in Madinah itself. I looked towards Madinah and it was shining like a crown (and around it, raindrops were falling like pearls).'

676| The imam not going out again for rain prayer if rain comes after the first time
Hadith Number: 1424
Hazrat ‘Abbad bin Tamim narrates from his uncle, who is a companion, that he states: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) went out with the people to the Eid ground to pray for rain. He (peace be upon him) stood and supplicated, then turned towards the Qiblah and turned his cloak inside out, so the people were granted rain. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says: To my knowledge, apart from the narration of Shu‘aib bin Abi Hamzah, the words“fa suqū”(they were given rain) are not found in any other narration.
