11| Heaviest prayers on hypocrites and fear of hypocrisy for missing Isha and Fajr in congregation
Hadith Number: 1485
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that when we did not find someone present in the 'Isha and Fajr prayers, we would think badly of him (that he had become a hypocrite).

12| Severity of missing congregational prayer in villages and deserts and Satan's control over those who miss it
Hadith Number: 1486
Ma'dan bin Abi Talhah Ya'mari reports that Sayyiduna Abu Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "Where is your home?" I replied, "In a village before Hims." Sayyiduna Abu Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'In whichever village or town there are three people and the prayer (in congregation) is not established among them, then Satan overcomes them. Therefore, adhere to the congregation, for the wolf eats the sheep that stays far and alone.'" In the narration of Masruq, it is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, the wolf seizes the sheep (goat) that is far and alone."

13| The sick praying in congregation at home if unable to attend the mosque due to illness
Hadith Number: 1487
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was unable to walk due to pain or discomfort in his leg, so we went to visit him. We found him sitting in his blessed chamber in front of the upper room. He says that then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led the prayer while sitting, and we prayed standing behind him. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) completed the prayer, he said: "When I lead the prayer sitting, you should also pray sitting, and when I lead the prayer standing, you should also pray standing, and do not stand around me in the manner that the Persians stand with folded hands for their chiefs and kings."

14| Concession for the sick to miss congregational prayer
Hadith Number: 1488
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not come to us (to lead the prayer) for three days. Then, when the iqamah for prayer was pronounced, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) stepped forward to lead the people in prayer. (During this time) the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) lifted the curtain, and we never saw a sight more beloved to us than the sight of the face of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that became visible. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gestured to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) to move forward (and lead the prayer). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) let the curtain fall, and we could not reach him until his passing (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that this narration belongs to the category I have mentioned, that an understood gesture sometimes takes the place of speech. Because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made it clear to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) by gesture that he was ordering him to lead the prayer. Thus, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) considered the gesture sufficient instead of verbally commanding to lead the prayer.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "The prayer of any one of you with the congregation is superior by more than twenty-five degrees than his prayer alone in his house or in the market. And this is because when any one of you performs ablution, he performs it well. Then he leaves his house only for the prayer, and with every step he takes, Allah raises him one degree and forgives him one sin." This is the narration of Bundar. In the narration of Abu Musa, it is: "or his sins are forgiven." In the narration of Bishr bin Khalid, Muslim bin Janadah, and Al-Dawraqi, the words are: "and his sins are forgiven." In the narration of Al-Dawraqi, it is: "until he enters the mosque."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever among you performs a complete and perfect ablution, then comes to the mosque solely for the purpose of offering prayer, Allah Almighty becomes as pleased with his coming as the family of a person who was absent (due to travel or similar reasons) becomes pleased upon his return."

Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir al-Juhani رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "When a person performs ablution and, intending to pray, walks towards the mosque, the recording angel writes ten good deeds for each step he takes towards the mosque. It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Charity is obligatory upon every soul for every day on which the sun rises. And among these is that you act justly between two people—that is charity. And if you help a man to mount his riding animal, that too is charity. If you remove something harmful from the road, that too is charity. Among these is also that you help a man to mount his riding animal and help him load his belongings onto it—that too is charity. Speaking good words is also charity. And every step you take towards the prayer is charity."
