And the evidence that the hoarded treasure (al-kanz) is the wealth from which zakat is not paid, not the buried wealth from which zakat is paid.

Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "Whoever does not pay the zakat of his wealth, then on the Day of Resurrection a snake will be made for him which will become a collar around his neck on the Day of Resurrection." Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse of the Qur'an in confirmation of this: «سَيُطَوَّقُونَ مَا بَخِلُوا بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ» [ سورة آل عمران: 180 ] "The wealth in which they were miserly, it will be made into a collar for them on the Day of Resurrection."

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, the person who does not pay the zakat of his wealth, (his wealth) will take the form of a bald snake for him, which will have two black spots over its eyes. 11| Chapter on the evidence that nothing is obligatory in wealth except zakat
Hadith Number: 2258M
Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that in the narration of Hazrat Talhah bin Ubaidullah, it is mentioned: "Is there any charity obligatory upon me besides Zakat?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, except that you give voluntary charity." And in the narration of Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), it is mentioned that "a Bedouin came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Tell me of an action, that if I act upon it, I will enter Paradise." In this narration, these words are mentioned: "You must pay the obligatory Zakat." And in this narration, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever wishes to see a person of Paradise, let him look at this man." I have already written these two narrations in the previous pages of the book. And in the narration of Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), these words are mentioned: "Perform the five daily prayers, fast in your month (the blessed month of Ramadan), pay the Zakat on your wealth, and obey your leader; you will enter the Paradise of your Lord."

14| Chapter clarifying that zakat was made obligatory before the migration to Abyssinia, while the Prophet was still in Makkah
Hadith Number: 2260
Lady Umm Salamah bint Abi Umayyah bin Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that when we (migrated and) reached the land of Abyssinia, we settled in its outskirts. When the Negus came... then the complete hadith was narrated. In the hadith, these words are mentioned that Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) says that Sayyiduna Ja’far bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) spoke to the Negus. He said to the Negus,“O King, we were an ignorant people. We used to worship idols and eat carrion. We used to commit acts of indecency, sever ties of kinship, oppress our neighbors, and the strong among us would consume the weak. We lived in such conditions until Allah Almighty sent to us a Messenger whose lineage, truthfulness, trustworthiness, and chastity we well knew. He called us to the oneness of Allah Almighty, that we worship Him alone and abandon the worship of stones and idols which we and our forefathers used to worship. He commanded us to speak the truth, fulfill trusts, maintain ties of kinship, treat neighbors kindly, and refrain from unlawful consumption and bloodshed. He forbade us from acts of indecency, false speech, consuming the wealth of orphans, and slandering chaste women. He commanded us to worship Allah alone and not associate anything with Him, and he commanded us to perform prayer, give zakat, and fast.”Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) says,“So Sayyiduna Ja’far (may Allah be pleased with him) informed the Negus of the teachings and guidance of Islam, so we affirmed him and brought faith in him, and we followed those teachings which he brought from Allah Almighty. Therefore, we worshipped Allah alone and did not associate anything with Him, and we made unlawful for ourselves those things which were made unlawful for us, and made lawful for ourselves those things which were made lawful for us.”Then the rest of the hadith was narrated.
