Chapter on Hunting with a Bow and the Ruling of the Game If It Disappears or Falls into Water
Hadith Number: 7588
It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim Ta’i (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that our land is very suitable for hunting, if any of us shoots an arrow at game and the game disappears for a day or two, and then it is found and the same arrow is present in it? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you find your arrow in it and there are no marks of any other arrow, and you know that it was your arrow that killed it, then you may eat it. In another narration, it is stated: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you see your arrow lodged in it and no beast has eaten from it, then you may eat that game.

Chapter on What Has Been Reported Regarding Hunting with a Blunt Instrument
Hadith Number: 7590
Sayyiduna ‘Adi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the ruling regarding the game animal that dies due to being struck by the middle thick part of an arrow. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“If the game is struck by the sharp edge of the arrow and it penetrates into it, then eat it. But if the middle part of the arrow strikes and kills the game, then it is like an animal killed with a stick, so do not eat it.”

It is also narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Adi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you send your dog for hunting and say Bismillah, but if this dog joins with other dogs, then do not eat that game, because you do not know which dog killed that game (while you said Bismillah only over your own dog). Similarly, when you shoot an arrow and have said Bismillah, and that arrow pierces the game, then eat it. If it does not pierce and the game dies from the blow of the middle thick part of the arrow, do not eat that game, and do not eat the game hunted by a bullet, unless you slaughter it.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whatever you hunt with the middle thick part of the arrow, do not eat it, unless you slaughter it yourself.
