Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Soon after me there will be such caliphs who will act upon their knowledge and will carry out what they are commanded to do. After them, there will come rulers who will act upon things which they do not know and will perform deeds which they are not commanded to do. The one who rejects such people will be free, and the one who keeps himself away from them will remain safe, but the one who is pleased with them and follows them, he . . . ."

Yazid bin Sharik says that Dahhak bin Qais gave him an adorned garment and sent him to Marwan. Marwan said to his guard: See, who is at the door? He said: Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) is here. He allowed him to enter and said: Abu Hurairah! Narrate a hadith that you heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Soon a man will wish that he would fall from the star Thurayya (Pleiades) rather than be made responsible for any matter of the people."

Hasan says: Ma'qil bin Yasar Muzani was suffering from a fatal illness. Ubaydullah bin Zayd came to take care of him. Sayyiduna Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I will narrate to you a hadith which I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). If I knew that I would live, I would not narrate it to you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If Allah entrusts a person with the responsibility of some subjects and he dies while deceiving them, Allah will make Paradise forbidden for him."

Abdullah bin Buraidah narrates from his father that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whenever a nation breaks a covenant, widespread killing occurs among them; whenever immorality becomes prevalent in a nation, Allah imposes death upon them; and whenever a nation withholds zakat, Allah withholds rain from them."

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that a man came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! You are more beloved to me than my own self, you are dearer to me than my family, and you are more beloved to me than my children. When I am at home and I remember you, I cannot be patient until I come to you and look at you (and find peace). But when I remember my death, I think that when you enter Paradise, you will be (raised to) high ranks with the Prophets, and if I enter Paradise, I fear that I will not be able to see you? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) did not give him any answer, until Jibreel (peace be upon him) came down with this verse: «وَمَنْ يُطِعِ اللَّـهَ وَالرَّسُولَ فَأُولَـئِكَ مَعَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ اللَّـهُ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنَ النَّبِيِّينَ وَالصِّدِّيقِينَ وَالشُّهَدَاءِ وَالصَّالِحِينَ وَحَسُنَ أُولَـئِكَ رَفِيقًا» "And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger, then they will be with those upon whom Allah has bestowed favor, of the Prophets, the steadfast affirmers of truth, the martyrs, and the righteous. And excellent are those as companions." (4-An-Nisa:69)

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mujashi‘ bin Mas‘ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he brought his nephew to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) so that he could pledge allegiance to you for Hijrah. Abu Nadrah says: We were with Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said: It is near that the import of qafiz and dirham to the people of Iraq will be stopped. We asked: How will this happen? He said: From the side of the non-Arabs, (a time will come when) they will stop it. Then he said: It is near that the import of dinar and mudd to the people of Sham will be stopped. We asked: How will this happen? He said: From the Romans, (a time will come when) they will stop it. After that, he paused for a little while and then said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In the last part of my Ummah, there will be a caliph who will give handfuls of wealth to the people and will not count it." I asked Abu Nadrah and Abu Al-Ala: What do you think, could he be Umar bin Abdul Aziz? They said: No.
