Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I and two sons of my uncle went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). One of them said: O Messenger of Allah! Appoint us as leaders over some of the matters which Allah has entrusted to you. The other also said something similar. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "By Allah! We do not appoint to authority in these matters the one who asks for it or the one who is eager for it."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Soon there will be people who will take charge of your affairs, who will abolish the Sunnah and promote innovations, and will delay the prayers from their prescribed times." Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If I live to see such rulers, what should I do? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O son of Umm Abd! There is no obedience to one who disobeys Allah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this sentence three times.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Ubādah bin Sāmit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“After me, soon there will be rulers appointed over you who will introduce among you things (evil) which you will disapprove of, and they will reject things (good) which you recognize (as virtue). If anyone lives to see such a time, (let him remember that) there is no obedience to such (rulers) who disobey Allah, the Exalted.”

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "A Muslim man should obey his ruler as long as he does not command him to disobey Allah, but when he commands disobedience to Allah, then there is no obedience to him."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Ziyad wanted to appoint Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) as the governor of Khurasan, but he refused. His companions said to him: "Do you not accept the responsibility of Khurasan?" He replied: "By Allah! I do not find it good that I should continue to burn in the fire of battles while you people arrive peacefully after victory. In fact, I fear that I will be facing the enemy and a letter from Ziyad will reach me. After that, if I advance, I will be destroyed, and if I return, my neck will be cut." After him, Ziyad intended to send Sayyiduna Hakam bin Amr Ghafari (may Allah be pleased with him), and he accepted the order. Imran (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Will someone call Hakam to me?" In response, a messenger went and set out towards him and reached him. Sayyiduna Imran (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Sayyiduna Hakam (may Allah be pleased with him): "Did you hear the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say that there is no obedience to anyone in disobedience to Allah, the Blessed and Exalted?" He said: "Yes." Imran (may Allah be pleased with him) said «الحمد للہ» or «اللہ اکبر» .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent an army and appointed a man as their commander. This commander lit a fire and said: "Enter into it." Some people (in obedience to the commander) actually intended to enter, while others said: "We accepted Islam in order to escape from the fire (and now...)." When this incident was reported to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he said to those who wanted to enter: "If you had entered the fire, you would have remained in it until the Day of Resurrection." And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) praised the other people and said: "There is no obedience to any human being in disobedience to Allah; obedience is only in good deeds."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Sufyan, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There will be such rulers that (due to their awe) their word will not be rejected; they will forcibly enter into the Fire and they will follow in each other's footsteps."

Incident of Hawazin delegation and return of captives and booty
Numbering by, Al-Albani: 1973, Fiqh-based: ,1388
Amr bin Shu’aib narrates from his father, who narrates from his grandfather, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: When the delegations of Hawazin were coming to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I was also present there. They said: O Muhammad! We are people of family and tribe, show kindness to us, may Allah show kindness to you. A trial has befallen us which is not hidden from you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Choose one thing from your children or your wealth.”They said: You have given us the choice between our lineage and our wealth, so we will give preference to our children. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“The share that is mine and that of Banu Abdul Muttalib will be returned to you. As soon as I finish the Zuhr prayer, say like this: We intercede with the Messenger of Allah regarding the return of our children and wives to the believers, and with the believers to the Messenger of Allah.”They did so. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) heard their words and said:“Whatever is in my share and the share of Banu Abdul Muttalib is yours.”The Muhajirun said: Whatever has come in our share is for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Ansar said the same. ‘Uyainah bin Badr said: Whatever has come in my share and the share of Banu Fazarah will not be returned. Aqra’ bin Habis said: As for me and Banu Tamim, we will not return it. ‘Abbas bin Mirdas said: I and Banu Sulaym will also not return it. But Hayyan said: You are lying, all of it is for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“People! Return their women and children to them. Whoever wants to take his share, then as soon as Allah grants us war booty or spoils, we will give him six times as much.”Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mounted his she-camel, and the people clung to him saying,“Distribute our wealth among us,”until they drove him to a thorny tree, which snatched his cloak. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“People! Return my cloak to me. By Allah! If I had camels equal to the number of the trees of Tihamah, I would distribute them among you, and then you would not find me miserly, cowardly, or a liar.”Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went near his camel, took some hairs from its hump between his forefinger and middle finger, raised them and said:“People! My share in this war booty is not even as much as these hairs, except for the khums (one-fifth), and that too will be distributed among you. So return even the needle and thread (everything). (Remember that) betrayal will be a disgrace, shame, and humiliation for the betrayers on the Day of Resurrection.”

Incident of the conquest of Khaybar
Numbering by, Al-Albani: 3244, Fiqh-based: ,1389
Abdullah bin Buraidah says that I heard from Abu Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We laid siege to Khaybar. Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) took the flag, but victory was not achieved. The next day, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) took the flag, but victory was still not achieved, and on that day, people faced great hardship, distress, and toil. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Tomorrow I will give the flag to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and Allah and His Messenger love him. He will not return until victory is achieved." We spent the night in a pleasant mood, hoping that victory would come the next day. When morning came, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led the Fajr prayer, then stood up and called for the flag. People remained seated in their places. Every person who had a high status with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) hoped to be the flag-bearer. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), who at that time was suffering from an eye ailment. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) applied his saliva to his eye and then wiped it, and handed him the flag. Allah Almighty granted victory at his hands. I was also among those who stretched their necks to see (who would receive the flag?).
