Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Umm Abdullah bint Abu Dhibab was ill, so I went to her to visit her. She said: O Abu Hurairah! Once I went to visit Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), who was sick. She saw a boil on my hand and said that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "When Allah the Exalted tests a servant and he dislikes it due to his condition and state, then Allah the Exalted makes that hardship an expiation for his sins and a means of purifying him, as long as he does not present it at the door of anyone other than Allah (for cure) or call upon anyone other than Allah to remove it."

Abu Ash’ath San’ani says: I went towards the mosque of Damascus and I went early. I met Shaddad bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him), and with him was Sanabahi. I asked them: May Allah have mercy on you, where are you intending to go? They said: We are going to visit a sick brother of ours. (Hearing this) I also went along with them. We reached the patient. Both of them asked him: How are you? He replied: By the grace and kindness of Allah. Sayyiduna Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Allah the Exalted says: When I test My believing servant and he remains patient over My trial while praising Me, then (when he recovers and) rises from his bed, he is as free from sin as the day his mother gave birth to him. Furthermore, Allah the Exalted says to the angels who record deeds: I have confined My servant and am testing him, so continue to record for him the same (good deeds) that you used to record for him when he was healthy (even though he is not performing those deeds now).”

-" إن عظم الجزاء مع عظم البلاء، وإن الله إذا احب قوما ابتلاهم، فمن رضي فله الرضا، ومن سخط فله السخط".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The increase in reward and recompense is in accordance with the increase in trials (that is, the greater the trial, the greater its reward). And when Allah Almighty loves a people, He subjects them to trials. So whoever shows patience and acceptance in it, for him is (Allah's) pleasure, and whoever expresses displeasure and anger towards Allah because of it, for him is (Allah's) displeasure."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "A high rank is decreed for a man by Allah Almighty, but he does not attain it through his deeds. -" ليس من عمل يوم إلا وهو يختم عليه، فإذا مرض المؤمن قالت الملائكة: يا ربنا! عبدك فلان قد حبسته، فيقول الرب: اختموا له على مثل عمله حتى يبرا او يموت".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir al-Juhani, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is no deed on any day except that the doer’s end is upon that deed. (Its explanation is that) when a believer becomes ill, the angels say to Allah Almighty: 'O our Lord! You have prevented so-and-so servant (from performing deeds).' (So what should be done about his good deeds?) Allah Almighty replies: 'Count for this servant the same deeds as he used to do (before falling ill), until he recovers or passes away.'"
