It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by the stone dwellings, he said: "Do not enter the places where the previous nations were punished, lest you be afflicted with the same punishment." Then he covered himself with his cloak while sitting on his saddle.

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by some of his companions, and there was a child standing in the middle of the road. When his mother saw the cattle coming, she feared that they would trample the child, so she ran in a panic, saying: "My child! My child!" Then she picked up her child. The companions (seeing this scene) said: "O Messenger of Allah! Can this woman throw her son into the fire?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, by Allah! No. Allah the Exalted will not throw His beloved into the fire."

The wife of the Messenger, Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), says that I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about this verse: «وَالَّذِينَ يُؤْتُونَ مَا آتَوْا وَقُلُوبُهُمْ وَجِلَةٌ» "And those who give what they give while their hearts tremble." (23-Al-Mu’minun:60) I said: (O Messenger of Allah!) Are the people referred to in this verse those who drink alcohol and steal? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, O daughter of As-Siddiq! The people meant in this verse are those who fast, perform prayers, and give charity, but at the same time they fear that perhaps these deeds may not be accepted." «أُولَـئِكَ يُسَارِعُونَ فِي الْخَيْرَاتِ» "These are the ones who hasten to good deeds." (23-Al-Mu’minun:61)

Sayyiduna Abu ‘Anabah Khawlani (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:“Allah, the Exalted, will continue to bring forth in this religion such people to whom He will grant the ability to obey and follow Him.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not befitting for a believer to humiliate himself." The Companions asked: How does a person humiliate himself? He replied: "He faces such trials for which he does not have the strength."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Beware of oppression! For oppression will be darknesses on the Day of Resurrection. And beware of miserliness! For miserliness destroyed those before you. It led them to shed the blood of their own people and to make lawful what was unlawful."

Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O people! Purchase your souls from Allah with His wealth. If a person is miserly in giving his wealth to others, then he should start spending on himself, and eat, drink, and wear clothes from what Allah has given him."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Ubādah bin Sāmit (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went out on his mount and the noble Companions were walking ahead of him. Sayyiduna Mu‘ādh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) said:“O Prophet of Allah! Will you allow me, willingly, to come close to you?”He (peace be upon him) said:“Yes.”Sayyiduna Mu‘ādh came close to him and both walked together. While walking, Sayyiduna Mu‘ādh (may Allah be pleased with him) said:“O Messenger of Allah! May my father be sacrificed for you, I ask Allah Almighty that the time of my death comes before your passing. What do you think, if (contrary to this) something else happens, then what deeds should we do after you? However, at present, no sign of this is visible.”The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) remained silent. I said:“Jihād in the way of Allah?”The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Jihād is indeed the best deed, and what people possess is even more protective of good deeds than this.”I said:“Are they fasting and charity?”He (peace be upon him) said:“Fasting and charity are the best of deeds.”Sayyiduna Mu‘ādh (may Allah be pleased with him) mentioned every good deed of the son of Adam. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“There is something even better among the people than this.”Sayyiduna Mu‘ādh (may Allah be pleased with him) said:“May my parents be sacrificed for you, what is better than all these (deeds)?”The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) pointed towards his blessed mouth and said:“To remain silent except for matters of goodness and virtue.”He (Mu‘ādh) said:“Will we be held accountable for what we speak with our tongues?”The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) struck Mu‘ādh’s thigh and said:“May your mother lose you! It is the utterances of the tongues that will throw people on their faces into Hellfire. Therefore, whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or else remain silent from (other) evil things. (O people!) Speak good words, you will gain benefit, and refrain from bad words, you will remain safe.”

Ubadah bin Tamim narrates from his uncle Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zaid bin Asim (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Woe to the news of the deaths of the Arabs! Woe to the news of the deaths of the Arabs! (He called out this three times) What I fear most for you is showing off and hidden desires."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Even the lowest (Muslim) will grant protection to my Ummah."
