Mosques on Medina’s roads and places Prophet prayed
`Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stopped in that valley which is near Harshi (mountain), on the right side of the road, near the trees. The valley is adjacent to the edge of Harshi (mountain), and between it and the road there is a distance of about an arrow's shot. And Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to pray near that tree which was closest to the road among all the trees and was the tallest among them.
Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stayed at this stream which is at the end of Maraz-Zahran towards Madinah, when a person descends from the mountains of Safradat. The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to stay on the left side of the road within the enclosure of this stream, when you are going towards Makkah. The place where the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stayed and the road are separated only by the distance of a stone's throw.
Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to stay at (the place of) Dhi Tuwa and would spend the night there until morning came, and he would offer the morning prayer there (this was) when he came to Makkah. And the place where the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to pray is on a hard hill, not in the mosque that has been built there, but rather below it, on that same hard hill.
Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them): The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to the two corners of this mountain, the corner which is between this mountain and the big mountain towards the Kaaba. Then he left the mosque that was built there to his left, the mosque that is towards the mound, and the place where the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed is below it, on top of the black mound, leaving about ten yards or so from the mound. Then, face towards those two corners of the mountain which are between you and the Kaaba and pray.
Imam’s barrier is also barrier for followers
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, that when the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) would go out (to lead the prayer) on the day of Eid, he would order that a harbah (small spear) be fixed in front of him, and he would pray facing towards it, and the people would be behind him. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) would do the same while traveling. From this, the leaders have adopted this practice (i.e., keeping a spear with them).
Sayyiduna Abu Juhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) led the people in prayer at Batha. He performed two rak‘ahs of Zuhr and two rak‘ahs of ‘Asr, while a spear was fixed in front of him, and women and donkeys were passing in front of him.
Maximum distance between worshipper and barrier
Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the space between the place where the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to pray and the wall was enough for a goat to pass through.
Praying facing a spear is permissible
Narrated Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): Whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went out to relieve himself, I and a boy used to follow him, carrying a stick with a hook, or a staff, or a spear, and we had a water skin with us. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished relieving himself, we would hand him the water skin.
Praying facing a pillar is permissible
Narrated from Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that he used to pray near the pillar which was close to the Mushaf (in Masjid Nabawi). So he was asked,“O Abu Muslim! (I, Yazid bin Abi Ubaidah,) see that you try to pray near this pillar?”He replied,“I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) trying to pray near it.”
Praying between pillars without congregation is permissible
`Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates the hadith about the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) entering the Ka'bah, that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) entered the Ka'bah. I asked Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) (when he came out), "What did the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) do (inside the Ka'bah)?" Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) said that he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took one pillar to his left, one pillar to his right, and three pillars behind him, and he prayed, and at that time the Ka'bah was built on six pillars. In another narration (Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, says), he took two pillars to his right.
