Obligation of Friday prayer.
Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him):
I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "We are the last (of the nations) in order of appearance, but on the Day of Resurrection we will be the foremost in terms of reckoning and entering Paradise. Yes, the Jews and Christians were given the Book before us, and it was made obligatory upon them to worship on Friday, but they differed. So Allah guided us to it. Thus, all other people are behind us in this matter. The day of the Jews is tomorrow (Saturday), and the day of the Christians is the day after tomorrow (Sunday)."

Virtue of Friday prayer.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever performs ghusl on Friday like the ghusl of janabah (i.e., thoroughly), then goes (for the prayer), it is as if he has given a camel in charity. Whoever goes in the second hour, it is as if he has given a cow in charity. Whoever goes in the third hour, it is as if he has given a horned ram in charity. Whoever goes in the fourth hour, it is as if he has given a chicken in charity. Whoever goes in the fifth hour, it is as if he has given an egg in charity. When the Imam comes out (to deliver the sermon), the angels come to listen to the sermon (and the reward is no longer recorded)."

Applying oil before Friday prayer is Sunnah.
Sayyiduna Salman al-Farsi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever takes a bath on Friday, purifies himself as much as he can, then applies oil to his hair or uses the perfume of his house, then goes out (for the Friday prayer), and does not separate two people (sitting in the mosque), then prays as much as is written for him, then remains silent when the Imam delivers the sermon, his sins between this Friday and the previous Friday will be forgiven."

Sayedna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) was asked that people say the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perform ghusl (ritual bath) on Friday and wash your heads thoroughly, even if you are not in a state of janabah (major impurity), and use perfume." Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) replied that as for ghusl, yes (I also know that the Prophet, peace be upon him, commanded it), but as for perfume, I do not know.

Wearing the best available clothes on Friday.
‘The Commander of the Faithful, Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), saw a silk garment being sold at the door of a mosque. He submitted,“O Messenger of Allah! If only you would buy this and wear it on Fridays and in the presence of delegations when they come to you.”The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said,“Only that person will wear it who has no share in the Hereafter.”Afterwards, several garments of the same kind of silk came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he gave one silk garment to Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him). Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said,“O Messenger of Allah! You have given this to me, even though you had said something about the Hullah of Atarid.”The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said,“I did not give it to you so that you would wear it yourself.”So Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) gave that garment to his polytheist brother who was in Makkah, and he wore it.

Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If I had not considered the hardship and difficulty for my Ummah, I would have surely commanded them to use the miswak at the time of every prayer."

Friday prayer is valid in villages and cities.
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: "All of you are guardians (i.e., rulers and responsible) and all of you will be questioned about your subjects. The Imam (leader) is a guardian and he will be questioned about his subjects, and a man is a guardian over the people of his house and he will be questioned about his subjects, and a woman is a guardian in her husband's house and she will be questioned about her and her subjects, and a servant is a guardian over his master's wealth and he will be questioned about it and his subjects." (The narrator Ibn Shihab) says: I think he also said: "A man is a guardian over his father's wealth and he will be questioned about his subjects, and all of you are guardians (i.e., rulers) and all of you will be questioned about your subjects."
