Is Friday bath obligatory for those not required to attend?
The narration of Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) in which it was mentioned that: "In terms of sequence among nations, we are the last of all nations, but on the Day of Resurrection, in terms of reckoning and being taken to Paradise, we will be the foremost." has already passed. (See the chapter: The Obligation of Jumu'ah...) At the end of this narration, it is further mentioned that then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "It is obligatory upon every Muslim to perform ghusl (ritual bath) once a week, on that day he should thoroughly clean his head and his body."

How far must one come for Friday prayer and on whom is it obligatory?
`Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her)`, the respected wife of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), says that people used to come for the Friday prayer from their homes and from the surrounding villages of Madinah in turns. Due to dust, a lot of dust and sweat would accumulate on their bodies, and then sweat would also come out from their bodies, so there would be a bad smell. Then one of them came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) while he was with me, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "I wish you people would remain clean on this day (from dust and bad smell)."

It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that people used to do their work themselves, and when they went for Jumu'ah, they would go in that very state. So it was said to them: "If only you would perform ghusl (ritual bath)."

Walking to Friday prayer.
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Abs (may Allah be pleased with him): And he was going for the Friday prayer at that time, that I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever's both feet become dusty in the way of Allah, Allah has made the (Hell) fire forbidden for him (i.e., the fire of Hell cannot touch him)."

No one should displace another from his spot on Friday.
Narrated Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade that: "No person should make his brother get up from his place and then sit in his place himself." It was asked, "Is this only for Friday?" He replied, "For Friday and for other occasions as well."

The call to prayer on Friday.
Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) says that on the day of Jumu’ah, the adhan during the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and during the era of the Commander of the Faithful Abu Bakr as-Siddiq and ‘Umar al-Faruq (may Allah be pleased with them both), used to be given when the Imam sat on the pulpit. Then ‘Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) became the Caliph and (the number of) Muslims increased, so ‘Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) added a third adhan at Zawra. (Imam Bukhari, may Allah have mercy on him, said that Zawra is the name of a place in the market of Madinah.)

Having one muezzin on Friday is better.
Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) in another narration says that during the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) there was only one mu’adhdhin, and on the day of Jumu’ah he would give the adhan only when the imam sat down, that is, when he sat on his pulpit.

Imam should respond to adhan when on the pulpit.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was sitting on the pulpit when the muezzin gave the call to prayer. When he said (Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar), Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) also said (Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar). Then the muezzin said ((Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah)), so Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said ((Wa ana)). The muezzin said ((Ashhadu anna Muhammadur Rasulullah)), so Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said ((Wa ana)). When the call to prayer was finished, Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O people! I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) at this very place (i.e., the pulpit) that when the muezzin gave the call to prayer, he (peace be upon him) would say just as you have heard me say.
