Giving the sermon from the pulpit.
The hadith of Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the pulpit has already been mentioned (see the Book: Description of Prayer... Chapter: Performing prayer on roofs, pulpits, and wooden platforms) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed on top of it (the pulpit) and then stepped down backwards. In this narration, it is further mentioned that when he finished, he turned to the people and said:“O people! I did this so that you may follow me and learn my (method of) prayer.”

Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him): There was a trunk of a date-palm tree which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to stand by (while delivering the sermon). When a pulpit was placed for him, we heard a sound from that trunk like the crying of a pregnant she-camel for ten months, until the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came down from the pulpit and placed his hand on the trunk. (Then the sound stopped.)

Saying "Amma ba'd" after praise in the sermon is Sunnah.
Sayyiduna Amr bin Taghlib (may Allah be pleased with him) says that some wealth or something was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so he (peace be upon him) distributed it. He gave to some people and did not give to others. Then news reached him (peace be upon him) that those whom he had not given were displeased. So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) praised and glorified Allah, then said: "To proceed! By Allah, I give to some and leave others, even though the one whom I leave is more beloved to me than the one to whom I give. But I give to some people because I see restlessness and anxiety in their hearts. (And those whom I do not give), I entrust them to the contentment and goodness that Allah has placed in their hearts. Among such people is Amr bin Taghlib (may Allah be pleased with him)." (Amr bin Taghlib [may Allah be pleased with him] says:) By Allah! I do not wish to have even red camels in exchange for this statement of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

`Sayyiduna Abu Humayd Sa'idi (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up one night after the prayer and recited the Tashahhud and praised Allah as He deserves to be praised, then said, "Amma ba'd!."

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that (one day) the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ascended the pulpit, and it was the last gathering in which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sat. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had a large cloak draped over his shoulders and had tied his blessed head with a dusty-colored band. Then he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O people! Come near to me." So the people gathered close to him (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). After that, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "To proceed! This tribe of Ansar will keep decreasing, and other people will keep increasing. Therefore, whoever among the Ummah possesses anything and has the authority by which he can harm or benefit someone, he should accept the good deeds of the righteous among them (i.e., the Ansar) and overlook the mistakes of the wrongdoers among them."

If someone arrives during the sermon, imam tells him to pray two rak‘ahs.
Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him): A man came (to the mosque) while the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was delivering the sermon, and sat down. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked him: "Have you prayed two rak'ahs (Tahiyyat al-Masjid)?" He replied: "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Get up and pray two rak'ahs."

Supplicating for rain in the Friday sermon.
`Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that (on one occasion) during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), people were afflicted with drought. On a Friday, while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering the sermon, a Bedouin stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Wealth has been destroyed and children are hungry, so pray (to Allah) for rain for us." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised both his hands, and at that time we did not see even a patch of cloud in the sky. But by the One in Whose hand is my soul, he (peace and blessings be upon him) had not yet lowered his hands when clouds gathered like mountains. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not descend from his pulpit until I saw rain dripping from his blessed beard. Then it rained upon us that day, and the next day, and the third day, and the fourth day, and so on until the next Friday. Then that same Bedouin (or Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, said) or another man stood up during the Friday (sermon) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! (Due to the abundance of rain) houses have collapsed and wealth has been submerged, so pray to Allah for us." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised both his hands and said: "O Allah! Let the rain fall around us and not upon us." Then whichever direction the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed to a cloud, it would move away, and the whole of Madinah became clear like a basin, and the stream of the valley of Qanat flowed for a month, and whoever came from any direction would describe the state of the rain.

Remaining silent during the Friday sermon.
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If, on the day of Jumu'ah, while the Imam is delivering the sermon, you say to your companion, 'Be quiet,' then surely you have engaged in idle talk."

The time on Friday when supplication is accepted.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) mentioned the day of Friday and said: "There is a moment in it such that if a Muslim servant encounters it while standing and praying, and asks Allah for something, Allah will surely grant him that thing." And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) indicated with his hand to show the brevity of that moment.
