He replied, '(Nothing special, but) I used to order my servants to forgive the debt of the one in difficulty and to be gentle in demanding from the wealthy.' " The narrator stated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "So, they also let him go."

When seller and buyer both clarify terms.
`Sayyiduna Hakim bin Hizam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The seller and the buyer both have the option (to cancel the deal) as long as they do not separate," or he said, "until they part from each other. If both speak the truth and make clear the defects and qualities (of the goods), then there will be blessing in their transaction. But if they lie and conceal defects, the blessing of their trade will be erased."

Selling mixed types of dates together.
Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him): We used to get different types of mixed dates, so we would sell two sa's of them for one sa' (of good quality dates of the same kind). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not sell two sa's for one sa', nor two dirhams for one dirham (because this is usury)."

Sin of the one who enables usury.
Sayyiduna Abu Juhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I saw my father, who had bought a slave who practiced cupping, then he broke the cupping instruments of that slave. So I asked him (the reason for this), and he said that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade taking the price of a dog and the price of blood, and he (peace be upon him) also forbade branding and being branded (that is, writing names or making designs with kohl or indigo on the arm, etc.), and from taking and giving usury. And the Prophet (peace be upon him) cursed the image-maker.

Mention of the blacksmith's profession.
Sayyiduna Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him) says: In the days of ignorance, I was a blacksmith and ‘As bin Wa’il owed me some money. I used to go to ‘As to demand my debt. Once, ‘As said to me,“I will not give it to you until you deny the Prophethood of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).”I said,“Even if Allah gives you death and then resurrects you after death, I will never deny the Prophethood of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).”‘As said,“Then leave me until I die and am resurrected, because at that time I will have wealth and children, and I will pay your debt.”Upon this, these verses (Surah Maryam: 77, 78) were revealed:“O Prophet! Have you seen the one who denies Our verses and says, ‘Surely, I will be given wealth and children (if I am resurrected after death)?’”

Mention of the tailor's profession.
Narrated Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): A tailor invited the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to a meal which he had prepared for him, so I also went with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to that meal. Bread and broth containing green gourd (long bottle gourd) and dried meat were placed before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) searching for pieces of gourd in the bowl from here and there, so from that day I began to like gourd.

Buying animals and donkeys, etc., is permissible.
Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him):
I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in a battle, and my camel became sluggish and tired, so I lagged behind. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to me and called out: "Jabir!" I replied, "Yes." He asked, "How are you?" I said, "My camel is slow and has become tired, so I have fallen behind." So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) dismounted and struck it with his stick. Then he said to me, "Now mount it." So I mounted it, and (the camel became so fast that) indeed I had to restrain it from overtaking the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "Have you married?" I replied, "Yes." He asked, "Did you marry a virgin or a previously married woman?" I replied, "A previously married woman." So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Why did you not marry a young virgin so that you could play with her and she could play with you?" I replied, "I have some younger sisters, so I wanted to marry a woman who would gather them together, comb their hair, and look after them." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Well, when you reach your wife, enjoy (intimacy with) her thoroughly." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Will you sell your camel?" I replied, "Yes." So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) bought the camel from me for one uqiyah (of gold or silver). After that, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) reached (Medina) before me, and I arrived in the morning. Then we went to the mosque, and we found the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) at the door of the mosque. He said, "Have you just arrived?" I replied, "Yes." He said, "Leave your camel and go into the mosque and pray two rak‘ahs." So I prayed, and then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) to weigh out one uqiyah (of gold or silver) for me, and he weighed it out for me generously. As I was about to return home, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Call him to me." I thought to myself, "Now I will get my camel back," though I disliked this very much. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Take your camel and its price as well."

Buying sick or mangy camels is permissible.
`Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) bought some sick camels from a man. That man had a partner in this business as well. So that man's partner came to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and, by way of apology, said: "My partner has sold you sick camels; he did not recognize you." Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "Alright, you may take them back." Then he said: "Leave them, we are content with the decision of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), because (he said): 'One's illness does not transfer to another.'"
