Encouragement to marry
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that three men came to the houses of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to ask about the worship of the Prophet (peace be upon him). When it was described to them, they considered his worship to be little (that is, they considered it insufficient for themselves). Then they said, "What comparison do we have with the Prophet (peace be upon him)? All his past and future sins have been forgiven." One of them said, "I will pray all night." The second said, "I will fast continuously." The third said, "I will not marry (that is, I will stay away from women)." Meanwhile, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came and said: "Did you say such and such things? Listen! I am the one among you who fears Allah the most and is most mindful of His rights, but I fast and I break my fast, I pray (at night) and I sleep, and I also marry women. (Beware!) Whoever turns away from my Sunnah is not from me."
Dislike of not marrying and of castration
The conqueror of Persia, Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him), used to say: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade ‘Uthman bin Maz’un (may Allah be pleased with him) from abstaining from marriage; if he had permitted him, we would have become eunuchs.
Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): I said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), "I am a young man and I fear that I may commit adultery, and I do not have the means to marry." But the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not reply to me. I repeated my request in the same manner, but he remained silent. I asked again, but he did not answer. When I repeated it once more, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Abu Huraira! The pen has dried (after writing) what is decreed for you (your destiny is already written and cannot be changed), whether you become castrated or not."
Marriage to a virgin
Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! If you stop at a place where there are trees, some of which have already been grazed and some have not been grazed at all, from which tree would you let your camel graze?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "From the one that has not been grazed." Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) meant by this that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not marry any virgin woman other than her.
A young girl marrying an older man
Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a marriage proposal to Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) for me. Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I am your brother." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "You are my brother in Allah's religion and His Book, and she (Aisha) is lawful for me."
Spouses being of the same religion
Narrated from Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that Abu Hudhaifah bin Utbah bin Rabi’ah bin Abd Shams, who was present at the Battle of Badr, adopted Salim as his son and married him to his niece Hind, daughter of Walid bin Utbah Rabi’ah. Salim was a slave of an Ansari woman, just as the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had adopted Zaid as his son. It was the custom in the time of ignorance (Jahiliyyah) that if someone adopted a person as a son, people would call him by the name of his adoptive father, and after his death, he would also inherit from him. When Allah revealed this verse:“Call them by (the names of) their (real) fathers...”(Al-Ahzab: 5), then all of them began to be called by the names of their real fathers. And if his father was not known, then he would be called a Mawla (client) or a religious brother. Afterwards, Sahla bint Suhail bin Amr al-Qurashi al-Amiri, who was the wife of Abu Hudhaifah, came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and said,“O Messenger of Allah! We used to consider Salim as our son, but now Allah has sent down the command which you know (what should I do?)”Then the entire hadith was narrated.
Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went to Dubaa’ah bint Zubair (ibn Abdul Muttalib) and asked her:“Do you intend to perform Hajj?”She said (yes), but I am suffering from severe pain. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Then go for Hajj and stipulate (the condition) that: O Allah, my place of coming out of Ihram is where You restrain me (due to any excuse such as illness, etc.).”And Dubaa’ah (may Allah be pleased with her) was married to Miqdad bin Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him).
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "A woman is married for four reasons: (1) for her wealth, (2) for her lineage, (3) for her beauty, (4) for her religiousness. So you should marry the religious one, otherwise your hands will be dust-covered."
Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a wealthy man passed by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "What do you say about this man?" They replied, "He is such a person that if he proposes (for marriage), his proposal will be accepted; if he intercedes for someone, his intercession will be accepted; and if he speaks, people listen attentively." (Sahl, may Allah be pleased with him, says) Then the Prophet remained silent. After that, another man who was poor and needy among the Muslims passed by, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "What do you say about this man?" They replied, "He is such a person that if he proposes (for marriage), his proposal will not be accepted; if he intercedes for someone, his intercession will not be accepted; and if he speaks, people do not listen attentively." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If the earth were filled with such wealthy people, even then this poor man is better than all of them."
Avoiding pessimism about women and Allah’s saying:“Some of your wives and children are your enemies...”(Surah Taghabun: 14)
Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: "I have not left behind me any trial more harmful to men than women."
