Virtue of greeting and sitting in a gathering
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Waqid Al-Laithi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was sitting in the mosque and people were with him, when three men came. Two of them came straight to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and one went away. Of the two who came, one found a vacant spot in the gathering and sat there, and the other sat behind the people, and the third turned away and left. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished, he said: "Shall I not tell you about these three men? One sought refuge with Allah, so Allah gave him refuge; the second felt shy (to push in among the people), so Allah was shy with him; and the third turned away, so Allah turned away from him."

Prohibition of displacing someone to sit in his place
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: None of you should make his brother get up from his place and then sit there himself, but rather spread out and make room. In another narration, it is mentioned that I asked: Is this command for the day of Jumu'ah? He (peace be upon him) said: Whether it is Jumu'ah or any other day. And if someone would stand up for Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), he would not sit in that place (even though it is permissible to sit with his consent, but this was caution lest he might be displeased in his heart).

Prohibition of two speaking privately excluding a third
`Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you are three people, then two of you should not converse privately excluding the third person, until more people join you. This is because (the third person) will be grieved. (It is possible that he may become suspicious of the two.)

Replying to greetings from People of the Book
‘Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that a group of Jews greeted the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and said,“As-saam ‘alaikum, O Abu al-Qasim!”(meaning: O Abu al-Qasim, death be upon you). The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied,“Wa ‘alaikum.”Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) became angry and said,“Did you not hear what they said?”The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied,“I heard it and I responded to them, and the supplication we make against them is accepted, but their supplication is not accepted.”(And so it happened that death befell the Jews—they died and were killed.)

Prohibition of women going out unveiled after hijab was revealed
It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that the pure wives of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to go at night to those places (for relieving themselves) which were outside of Madinah, and they were open and clear places. And Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that you should keep your women in seclusion (veil). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not command veiling. Once, Umm al-Mu'mineen Sawda bint Zam‘a (may Allah be pleased with her) went out at night at the time of ‘Isha, and she was a tall woman. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) called out to her and said, "O Sawda bint Zam‘a! We have recognized you." And he did this so that the command of veiling would be revealed. Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) said, then Allah Almighty revealed the command of veiling.

Women allowed to go out for needs
Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) says: When the command of veiling was revealed to us, after that, Sawda (may Allah be pleased with her) went out to relieve herself, and she was a heavy woman, who stood out among all women in her stoutness, and whoever knew her could not fail to recognize her (that is, he would recognize her). So, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saw her and said,“O Sawda! By Allah, you cannot hide yourself from us, so consider how you go out.”Hearing this, she returned, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was eating dinner in my house, and there was a bone in his hand. At that moment, Sawda came and said,“O Messenger of Allah! I went out, and Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said such and such to me.”Immediately, the state of revelation came upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), then that state passed, and the bone was still in his hand, he had not put it down. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said,“You have been permitted to go out for your needs.”
