Virtues of the Noble Qur'an
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that one day Jibreel (peace be upon him) was sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when a loud sound of a door opening was heard. He raised his head and Jibreel (peace be upon him) said, "This is a door of the heaven which has opened today, and it has never opened before today." Then an angel descended from it. And Jibreel (peace be upon him) said, "This angel who has descended to the earth has never descended except on this day." He greeted (the Prophet) and said, "Receive the glad tidings of two lights which have been given to you, which no prophet before you was given: one is Surah Al-Fatihah and the other is the concluding verses of Surah Al-Baqarah. You will not recite a single letter from them except that you will be granted what you ask for."

Reciting the Qur'an, especially Surah Al-Baqarah and Al-Imran
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah Bahili رضي الله عنه says that I heard the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم say, "Recite the Qur'an, for it will come as an intercessor for its reciters on the Day of Resurrection. And recite the two shining Surahs, which are Surah Al-Baqarah and Surah Aal-e-Imran, for they will come on the Day of Resurrection as if they are two clouds, or two canopies, or two flocks of birds in ranks, pleading for those who recite them. And taking recourse to Surah Al-Baqarah is a blessing, and leaving it is a cause of regret, and the magicians cannot confront it." Muawiyah said that the word "batala" in the hadith means magician.

Virtue of Ayat al-Kursi
Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O Abu'l-Mundhir! Which verse in Allah's Book is the greatest with you?" I replied, "Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him) know best." He (peace be upon him) said, "O Abu'l-Mundhir! Which verse in Allah's Book is the greatest with you?" I replied, "(Allah! There is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence)" (i.e., Ayat al-Kursi). So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) struck my chest (happily) with his hand and said, "O Abu'l-Mundhir! May knowledge be blessed for you."

In another narration, it is mentioned that (by memorizing) the last verses of Surah Al-Kahf, one will be granted refuge from the Dajjal.

Virtue of reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas
Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "Is any one of you incapable of reciting one third of the Qur'an every night?" The companions asked, "How can anyone recite one third of the Qur'an?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Surah Al-Ikhlas (Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad) is equal to one third of the Qur'an."

Narrated from Ummul Momineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a man as the commander of a troop, and he used to recite the Qur'an in the prayer of his troop and would always end his recitation with (Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad). When the troop returned, the people mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so he said, "Ask him why he does so." The companions asked him, and he replied, "This is an attribute of the Most Merciful, and I love to recite it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Tell him that Allah loves him."

‘It is narrated from ‘Amir bin Wathilah that Nafi‘ bin ‘Abd al-Harith met Sayyiduna ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) at (the place of) ‘Usfan, and Sayyiduna ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had appointed him as the governor/collector over Makkah. Your Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has said that Allah, because of this Book, will raise some people and will lower others.”

Virtue of learning the Qur'an
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out while we were in the Suffah. He (peace be upon him) said: "Which one of you would like to go out every morning to Bathan or Aqeeq (these were two markets of Madinah) and bring back two large-humped she-camels from there, without committing any sin and without severing the ties of kinship?" We said, "O Messenger of Allah! We would all like that." He (peace be upon him) said: "Then why does not one of you go to the mosque and learn or recite two verses from the Book of Allah? That is better for him than two she-camels, and three verses are better than three she-camels, and four are better than four she-camels, and so on, according to the number of verses, each is better than that many she-camels."
