Hadith Number: 516
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "On the Day of Resurrection, the first three people about whom judgment will be passed will be: a martyr, he will be brought before Allah, He will remind him of His blessings, and he will recognize them. He (Allah) will say: What did you do about them? He will say: I fought in Your cause until I was martyred. He (Allah) will say: You have lied, you fought so that it would be said: He is brave, and so it was said. Then He will command regarding him, and he will be dragged on his face and thrown into the Fire. Another man will be brought who acquired knowledge and taught it, and recited the Qur'an. He will remind him of His blessings, and he will recognize them. He (Allah) will say: What did you do about them? He will say: I acquired knowledge, taught it for Your sake, and recited the Qur'an. He (Allah) will say: You have lied, you acquired knowledge so that it would be said: So-and-so is a scholar, so-and-so is a reciter, and so it was said. Then He will command regarding him, and he will be dragged on his face and thrown into the Fire. Then a man will be brought to whom Allah had given all kinds of wealth. He will remind him of His blessings, and he will recognize them. He (Allah) will say: What did you do about them? He will say: I did not leave any path or place where You like spending, except that I spent there. He (Allah) will say: You have lied, you did so that it would be said: He is generous, and so it was said. Then He will command regarding him, and he will be dragged on his face and thrown into the Fire."

We said:“Congratulations to you for Paradise!”The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Never! By the One in Whose hand is my soul! She asked: O Messenger of Allah! Did you laugh because of me? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, rather because of some people from my Ummah who will undertake a naval expedition; their example is like that of kings on thrones." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) then slept again, then woke up smiling and said: "Some people from my Ummah will set out for a naval expedition; they will receive little spoils of war but they will be forgiven."
