Ali bin Abdur Rahman Mu'awi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I had the opportunity to pray next to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). I began to turn over pebbles, so he forbade me from doing so and said that this is a satanic act. However, it is permissible to do it in the manner I saw the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) do: he would move them like this. The narrator demonstrated by passing his hand (he would level the place of prostration, but would not keep doing it repeatedly and spoil the prayer).

Imam, may Allah have mercy on him, says that I heard Sufyan saying that he had made a vow to perform i'tikaf in Masjid al-Haram. He asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) about it, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered him to fulfill that vow. Someone asked Sufyan, "This narration has been transmitted by Ayyub from Nafi' on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had made this vow?" He replied, "Yes!"

Be aware! The blood money (diyah) for one killed by a stick or staff is one hundred camels. According to some chains of narration, this is a severe diyah, which includes forty pregnant she-camels. Be aware! Every pride, every blood, and every claim of the time of ignorance is under my two feet. However, the office of providing water to the pilgrims and the custodianship of the key of the Sacred House (Ka'bah), I maintain these offices for their current holders as long as the world remains (these offices will remain with these people)."
