It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The example of the bearer of the Qur'an is like the owner of a tied camel; if he keeps it tied, it remains under his control, and if he lets it loose, it goes away."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The person with the lowest rank in Paradise will see his gardens, blessings, thrones, and servants spread out over a kingdom extending a distance of a thousand years, while the one with the highest rank in Paradise will see Allah Almighty morning and evening." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "That day, faces will be radiant, looking at their Lord."

Nafi’ (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to lease out his land during the time of the three caliphs and in the early period of the caliphate of Sayyiduna Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him). If I wished, I could also mention the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). But in the later period of Sayyiduna Amir Muawiyah’s (may Allah be pleased with him) rule, he came to know that Sayyiduna Rafi’ bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade leasing land. So he went to him, and I was with him. He asked Sayyiduna Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) about this matter, and he replied,“Yes! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade leasing land.”Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) abandoned this practice, and later, when anyone asked him about it, he would say,“Rafi’ bin Khadij is of the opinion that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade leasing land.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the sale of Muzabana. Nafi' explains the sale of Muzabana as selling the dates on the trees according to a fixed estimate and saying: "If more comes out than this, it is mine, and if it is less, it is still mine."

Nafi’ (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) gave his wife a divorce while she was in her menstrual period. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this issue, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that he should take her back and wait until she has her next menstrual period and then becomes pure, and then before approaching his wife, he may divorce her. This is the method according to which Allah has permitted men to divorce their wives. It was the practice of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when he was asked about a person who divorces his wife during her menstrual period, he would say: Why did you not give her one or two divorces? For the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that he should take his wife back and wait for the next menstrual period and then for her to become pure, and then before approaching her, he may divorce her. But you have given your wife three divorces; you have disobeyed the command of Allah regarding divorcing your wife, and your wife has become separated from you and you from her.

Nafi’ (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) never used to abandon Hajj and Umrah. Once, his son Abdullah came to him and said,“I fear that there will be fighting and killing among the people this year. Would it not be better if you stayed back this year and did not go for Hajj?”Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) replied,“The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also set out for Hajj, and the disbelievers of Quraysh came between him and the Sacred Sanctuary. So, if any obstacle comes before me as well, I will do what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did.”Then he recited this verse:“Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example.”And he said,“I make you a witness that I have made the intention for Umrah.”After that, he set out, and when he reached the place of Bayda’, he said,“The matter of Hajj and Umrah is the same. I make you a witness that I have now made the intention for Hajj along with my Umrah.”Thus, he reached Makkah and performed a single Tawaf for both.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man stood in the Prophet’s Mosque and asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him),“O Messenger of Allah! From where do you command us to enter into Ihram?”The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“For the people of Madinah, it is Dhu’l-Hulayfah; for the people of Sham, it is Juhfah; and for the people of Najd, it is Qarn.”Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that later people also said that the Miqat for the people of Yemen is Yalamlam, but I do not remember this.
