Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Jibreel (the Trustworthy) was sitting with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and looked towards the sky, (when suddenly) he saw an angel descending. Then Jibreel informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that this angel has never descended since his creation until today. When he had descended, he said, "O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! Your Lord has sent me to you, (I have come to ask) shall I make you a king or a servant who is a messenger?" Jibreel said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "O Muhammad! Show humility to your Lord." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, rather (let Him make me) a servant and a messenger."
