Mother of the Believers, Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: When the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah (after migrating), his companions began to suffer from fever. So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to visit our master Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) to inquire about his health. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Abu Bakr, how are you?”So our master Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: Every person wakes up in his home, while death is closer to him than the strap of his sandal. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to our master Amir bin Fuhairah (may Allah be pleased with him) to visit him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked:“How are you?”He replied: I have tasted the taste of death even before actually tasting it. Indeed, the coward’s soul departs from him just as an ox protects its hide from its dung. Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to our master Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“How are you?”He replied: Will there ever be a time when I will spend the night in“Fakh”(a valley in Makkah)? (Here, the narrator Sufyan sometimes narrates the word“valley”) and around me will be“Idhkhir”and“Jaleel”(specific names of grasses in Makkah). The narrator states: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed:“O Allah! Indeed, our master Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was Your servant and Your friend. He prayed to You for the people of Makkah. I am Your servant and Your Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). I pray to You for the people of Madinah, just as he prayed to You for the people of Makkah. O Allah, bless our ‘Sa’ (a measure), bless our ‘Mudd’ (a measure), bless our Madinah.”The narrator Sufyan says: I think these words are also in the narration:“Bless our vessels. O Allah! Make it beloved to us just as You made Makkah beloved to us, or even more so, and make its climate healthy, and transfer its epidemic and fever to Khumm (the narrator is unsure, perhaps these are the words) or to Juhfah.”
