Sulaiman (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that I heard Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) say that Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) and Mughira ibn Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) both sent a marriage proposal to a woman. Her family married her to Mughira (may Allah be pleased with him) and left Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), or the narrator said: they rejected Umar’s (may Allah be pleased with him) proposal. Upon this, the Prophet of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said: Indeed, they have left the best person of this Ummah, or he said: they have rejected him.
