Hazrat Rabee’ bin Umeilah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that there was a dispute between a man from Kufa and a man from Shaam. Both began to boast to each other. The man from Kufa said:“We are the people of the day of the Battle of Qadisiyyah.”And the man from Shaam said:“We are the people of the Battle of Yarmouk and such-and-such days.”Upon this, Hazrat Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) said:“Allah did not make either of them witnesses to the destruction of ‘Aad and Thamud, nor did He consult either of them regarding it. And no town is worthy that its virtue be mentioned as much as this city, meaning Kufa.”
