Hazrat Shabir bin Alqamah narrates that during the Battle of Qadisiyyah, a man from the people of Persia stood up and challenged for combat. He mentioned his bravery. Then a short-statured man named Shabir bin Alqamah advanced towards him. The Persian champion lifted Shabir and threw him to the ground. Shabir grabbed the Persian champion's dagger and stabbed it into his stomach. Then he killed him. After that, he took his belongings and came to Hazrat Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him). Hazrat Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) valued it at twelve thousand dirhams and gave it to him as spoils of war.
