Hazrat Iyas bin Salamah narrates from his father that the Quraysh sent Suhail bin Amr, Huwaytib bin Abd al-Uzza, and Mikraz bin Hafs to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) so that they might make a treaty with him. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw Suhail among them, he said:“Your matter has become easy. People are coming to you along with their relations and are asking you for peace. So, make the sacrificial animals stand and proclaim the Talbiyah. Perhaps this will soften their hearts.”The Companions raised the Talbiyah from the sides of the army until their voices echoed with the Talbiyah. The narrator says: Then the polytheists came and talked about peace.
2. The narrator says: During this time, while these people were together, there were Muslims in the army of the polytheists and polytheists in the army of the Muslims. It was said: Abu Sufyan! Suddenly the valley began to overflow with people and weapons. The narrator says: Iyas relates that Salamah said: I drove six armed men from among the polytheists, while they had no power over benefit or harm for themselves. We brought them to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); he neither killed them nor seized their property, but forgave them. The narrator says: Then, regarding our companions who were in the custody of the polytheists, we were strict, and we did not leave any of them in their custody but freed them. The narrator says: As for those of theirs who were in our custody, we prevailed over them.
3. Then the Quraysh went to Suhail bin Amr and Huwaytib bin Abd al-Uzza and made them responsible for their treaty. And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Talhah. Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote the agreement between them: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. This is the document upon which Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, made peace with the Quraysh. He (peace and blessings be upon him) made peace with them on the condition that there will be no deception and no violation of the terms, and it is also a condition that whoever from the companions of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) comes to Makkah to perform Hajj or Umrah or seeking Allah’s pleasure, his life and property will be safe. And whoever from the Quraysh comes to Madinah or goes towards Egypt or Syria seeking Allah’s bounty, his property and life will also be safe. And it was also a condition that whoever from the Quraysh comes to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) will be returned, and whoever from the companions of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) comes to the Quraysh, he will remain with them.
4. This matter was very hard upon the people of Islam. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever from among them comes to us, we will return him to them (even though) Allah knows Islam in his heart, and Allah will make a way for him.
5. The Quraysh made peace with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the condition that next year, during these same months, you (peace and blessings be upon him) will perform Umrah, but you will not bring horses and weapons with you except for the amount that a traveler keeps in his bag. And you (peace and blessings be upon him) will stay in Makkah for three days. And it was also a condition that the sacrificial animals should be slaughtered at the place where we have stopped them; they will not be driven further. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: We will drive them, and you may turn them back.
