حدثنا ابو بكر النيسابوري ، حدثنا يونس بن عبد الاعلى ، حدثنا ابن وهب، اخبرني حيوة، سمعت يزيد بن ابي حبيب، يقول: حدثني عبد الله بن الحكم، عن علي بن رباح ، ان عقبة بن عامر ، حدثه، انه قدم على عمر بفتح دمشق، قال: وعلي خفان، فقال لي عمر:" كم لك يا عقبة لم تنزع خفيك؟"، فتذكرت من الجمعة إلى الجمعة، فقلت: منذ ثمانية ايام، قال:" احسنت، واصبت السنة" .
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he presented himself before Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) on the occasion of the conquest of Damascus. He says: "I was wearing leather socks (khuffs)." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) inquired: "O Uqbah! How many days has it been since you last removed your khuffs?" Then I remembered: "I have been wearing them from the previous Friday until this Friday." I replied: "For eight days." So he said: "You have done right and acted according to the Sunnah."
