Chapter on What the One Who Sneezes Should Say, What Those Around Him Should Say to Him, and What He Should Say to Them
Hadith Number: 8245
عن عائشة رضي الله عنها قالت عطس رجل عند رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال ما اقول يا رسول الله قال قل الحمد لله قال القوم ما نقول له يا رسول الله قال قولوا له يرحمك الله قال ما اقول لهم يا رسول الله قال قل لهم يهديكم الله ويصلح بالكم
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that a man sneezed in the presence of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! What should I say? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Say "Alhamdulillah" (All praise is due to Allah). The people said: O Messenger of Allah! What should we say now? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You should say "Yarhamukallah" (May Allah have mercy on you). The one who sneezed said: O Messenger of Allah! What should I say for them now? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You should say: "Yahdikumullah wa yuslihu balakum" (May Allah guide you and set your affairs right).
