Chapter on Hajj and Umrah on Behalf of Others – On Permitting a Person to Perform Hajj for Someone Who Died Before Performing Hajj, Provided He Has Performed Hajj for Himself
Hadith Number: 3993
اخبرنا الحسن بن سفيان ، قال: حدثنا ابو بكر بن ابي شيبة ، قال: حدثنا وكيع ، عن شعبة ، عن ابي بشر ، عن سعيد بن جبير ، عن ابن عباس ، قال: جاء رجل إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال: إن اختي ماتت ولم تحج، افاحج عنها؟، فقال صلى الله عليه وسلم: " ارايت لو كان عليها دين فقضيته، فالله احق بالوفاء" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: A man came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and said: My sister has passed away and she had not performed Hajj. Should I perform Hajj on her behalf? The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: What do you think, if that woman had a debt, would you pay it off? Allah, the Exalted, is most deserving that His dues be paid.
