Benefits & Rulings:
➊ Poverty is also a trial from Allah. Due to it, many people resort to unlawful means in search of sustenance. Likewise, the abundance of wealth is also a trial, which often leads a person to pride, arrogance, and greed — making them fall into various sins. This ḥadīth indicates that the trial of wealth is more severe than the trial of poverty. May Allah protect us from every test. Āmīn.
➋ If one does not possess the wealth of contentment, then despite having an abundance of worldly riches, the heart remains unsatisfied, and the desire to attain even more continues to grow. This blind greed eventually leads to ruin. Such a person remains preoccupied with the world at all times, and the Hereafter is completely forgotten.
➌ The rulings of Sharī‘ah are clear and easy to understand, and Allah’s commands are simple — practicing them is not difficult.
➍ The phrase “night and day being equal” may imply that there is no distinction between night and day — everything is clear and bright. It may also mean that just as during the lifetime of the Sun of Prophethood (the Prophet ﷺ), the distinction between truth and falsehood, right and wrong, was evident — similarly, even after the sunset of that guiding light (i.e., the passing away of the Prophet ﷺ), the light of the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger ﷺ continues to shine brightly. Through this guidance, distinguishing between truth and falsehood, right and wrong, remains absolutely easy.
