Muslim bin Subaih says that I went with Masruq to a church where there was a statue of Mary (peace be upon her). Masruq asked: Is this the statue of Kisra? I said: No, rather it is the statue of Mary (peace be upon her). He said: I heard Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that "On the Day of Resurrection, the people who will receive the severest punishment will be the image-makers."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led us in the prayer of fear (Salat al-Khawf). The noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) stood in two rows: one row behind the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the other row facing the enemy. The Prophet (peace be upon him) led those standing behind him in one rak'ah, then these people stood up and went to stand in front of the enemy, and those in the second row came and stood in the place of the first row. The Prophet (peace be upon him) also led them in one rak'ah and then said salam. Then these people stood up and themselves prayed one rak'ah and after saying salam, went to stand in front of the enemy in the place of the first row, and the people of the first row returned to their place and prayed one rak'ah and then said salam.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught him the words of Tashahhud and ordered him to teach them to the people as well: «التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلّٰهِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللّٰهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ اللّٰهِ الصَّالِحِينَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ» The translation of which is:“All verbal, physical, and bodily acts of worship are for Allah alone. O Prophet (peace and blessings be upon you)! Peace be upon you, and may Allah’s mercy and blessings descend upon you. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah, and that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is Allah’s servant and His Messenger.”

Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that in the beginning, we used to greet the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with salam during prayer, and he would respond to us. But when we returned from Najashi and greeted him with salam, he did not respond. We said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Previously, we used to greet you with salam during prayer and you would respond to us? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, there is engagement in prayer."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Which of you remembers that night which was turning red and white?" I said, "May my parents be sacrificed for you, I remember it.
