First Part of Musnad of the Basrans
حَدِيثُ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
Hadith of Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith Number: 21041
حدثنا عبد الرحمن ، عن حماد ، وبهز ، قال: حدثنا حماد بن سلمة ، عن سماك بن حرب ، عن جابر بن سمرة ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم " رجم ماعز بن مالك، ولم يذكر جلدا" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that Hazrat Ma'iz came and confessed to adultery before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) four times, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered him to be stoned. The narrator did not mention flogging.

Hadith Number: 21042
حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي ، عن سفيان ، عن الاعمش ، عن المسيب بن رافع ، عن تميم بن طرفة ، عن جابر بن سمرة ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " لينتهين اقوام يرفعون ابصارهم إلى السماء في الصلاة، او لا ترجع إليهم" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Does any one of you not fear, while raising his head during prayer, that his sight may not return to him, that it may remain raised (and not come back down)?

Hadith Number: 21043
حدثنا عبد الرحمن ، عن إسرائيل ، عن منصور ، عن ابي خالد الوالبي ، عن جابر بن سمرة ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم " بعثت انا والساعة كهاتين" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have been sent along with the Hour like this—the narrator indicated with his index and middle fingers.

Hadith Number: 21044
حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي ، حدثنا زائدة ، عن سماك ، عن جعفر بن ابي ثور ، عن جابر بن سمرة ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم" ان رجلا اتاه، فقال: اتوضا من لحوم الغنم؟ قال: لا، قال: فاصلي في مرابضها؟ قال: نعم، إن شئت، قال: فاتوضا من لحوم الإبل؟ قال: نعم، قال: افاصلي في اعطانها؟ قال: لا" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir that a man asked the Prophet (peace be upon him), "Should I perform ablution again after eating goat meat?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "If you wish, do so; if you wish, do not." He asked, "Can I pray in sheep pens?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Yes." The questioner asked, "Should I perform ablution again after eating camel meat?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Yes." He asked, "Can I pray in camel pens?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "No."

Hadith Number: 21045
حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي ، حدثنا زائدة ، عن سماك ، عن جابر بن سمرة ، قال: نبئت ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " لن يبرح هذا الدين قائما يقاتل عليه عصابة من المسلمين حتى تقوم الساعة" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This religion will always remain established, and a group will continue to fight for it until the Day of Resurrection comes.

Hadith Number: 21046
حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي ، حدثنا شعبة ، عن سماك بن حرب ، عن جابر بن سمرة ، قال: سمعت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، وقال مرة سمعت جابرا يعني ابن سمرة، ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم " سمى المدينة طابة" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that Allah Almighty has named Madinah Munawwarah as "Tābah".

حكم دارالسلام: إسناده صحيح، م: 1385
Hadith Number: 21047
حدثنا عبد الرحمن ، حدثنا شعبة ، عن سماك ، عن جابر ، قال: كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم " يقرا في الظهر والعصر ب الليل إذا يغشى سورة الليل آية 1، ونحو ذلك، وفي الصبح اطول من ذلك" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite Surah Al-Lail in the Zuhr prayer, and in the Asr prayer he would recite similar surahs, but in the Fajr prayer he would recite longer surahs than these.

Hadith Number: 21048
حدثنا عبد الرحمن ، وعفان ، قالا: حدثنا حماد بن سلمة ، عن سماك قال عفان في حديثه: قال: اخبرنا سماك بن حرب ، عن جابر بن سمرة ، قال:" كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقرا في الظهر والعصر ب والسماء ذات البروج سورة البروج آية 1 و والسماء والطارق سورة الطارق آية 1 ونحوهما" ، قال عفان: ونحوهما من السور.
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that in the Zuhr and Asr prayers, he used to recite "By the sky, having constellations" (Al-Buruj), "By the sky and the night-comer" (At-Tariq), and similar surahs.

Hadith Number: 21049
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر ، حدثنا شعبة ، عن سماك بن حرب ، قال: سمعت جابر بن سمرة ، قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول" إن الله سمى المدينة طابة" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that Allah has named Madinah Munawwarah as "Taba".

Hadith Number: 21050
حدثنا عمر بن عبيد ابو حفص ، عن سماك ، عن جابر ، قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول:" يكون بعدي اثنا عشر اميرا"، قال: ثم تكلم فخفي علي ما قال، قال: فسالت بعض القوم، او الذي يليني ما قال؟ قال: " كلهم من قريش" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying during the Farewell Pilgrimage that this religion will always prevail over its opponents; no one who opposes or separates from it will be able to harm it, until twelve caliphs have passed in my Ummah. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said something which I did not understand. I asked my father what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had said. He replied that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: All of them will be from the Quraysh.
