Hadith of al-Miqdad ibn al-Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith Number: 23808
It is narrated from Hazrat Miqdad bin Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me: Ask the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) about the ruling for a person who "plays" with his wife and madhiy (pre-seminal fluid), which is not "water of life" (semen), is discharged from his private part? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: He should wash his private part and perform ablution as for prayer.

It is narrated from Hazrat Miqdad bin Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I and my two companions presented ourselves before the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). We were extremely hungry. We presented ourselves to the companions (may Allah be pleased with them), but none of them accepted us. Then we came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and he took us to his house. There were four goats in the house of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me, "Miqdad! Milk these goats and divide the milk into four portions." So I did as he said.
One night, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was delayed in returning. I thought to myself that perhaps the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had eaten and drunk at the house of some Ansari and was satisfied. If I drank his share of the milk, it would not make any difference. I kept thinking like this until I stood up and drank the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) share of the milk and covered the bowl. When I had drunk the milk, various thoughts began to arise in my heart, and I started thinking, "What if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) comes in a state of hunger and finds nothing?" I wrapped myself in my sheet and kept thinking these thoughts.
While I was still lost in these thoughts, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived and greeted softly so that one who was awake would hear, but one who was asleep would not wake up. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to his milk, opened the vessel, but found nothing in it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "O Allah! Feed the one who feeds me, and give drink to the one who gives me drink." (I considered this supplication a blessing and took a knife and went towards the goats to slaughter the fattest one for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I saw that all the goats' udders were full of milk. Then I milked one into a vessel until it was full. Then I presented it to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He said, "Did you drink your share of the milk last night?" I replied, "O Messenger of Allah! You drink the milk, then I will tell you what happened." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drank the milk, then gave it to me. When I realized that you were satisfied, I also drank it.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Now tell me what happened." I narrated the incident before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "That milk at that time was nothing but mercy. Why did you not tell me earlier so that we could have awakened our companions and they too could have drunk from it?" I said, "When you and I have received this blessing, I do not care who did not get their share."

Jubair bin Nafeer says that once we were sitting with Hazrat Miqdad bin Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) when a man passed by and said, "How fortunate are these eyes that have seen the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). By Allah, it has always been our wish that we had seen what you saw and witnessed what you witnessed." At this, he became angry. I was surprised because the man had said a good thing. Then he turned towards him and said, "What makes a person desire to be present at those occasions from which Allah kept him absent? Does he not know what his attitude would have been if he had been present at that time? By Allah, there were people during the blessed life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) whom Allah will throw face down into Hell on their chests. These were the people who neither responded to the Prophet's call nor affirmed him. You affirm the Shariah brought by the Prophet through others, and you have been saved from trials. By Allah, Allah sent His Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) during the period of the cessation of revelation and ignorance, which was the hardest time compared to the time of any other Prophet's sending. In that era, people considered no religion better than idol worship. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came with the Furqan (criterion), through which he made clear the distinction between truth and falsehood, and made a distinction between a father and his children, to the extent that a man would consider his father, son, or brother to be a disbeliever, and Allah had opened the lock of his heart for faith. He knew that if he died in a state of disbelief, he would enter Hell. Therefore, when he realized that his beloved would remain in Hell, his eyes would not be cooled, and this is the very thing about which Allah Almighty has said: 'Those who say, "Our Lord! Grant us coolness of our eyes from our wives and children."'

It is narrated from Hazrat Miqdad bin Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I and my two companions came, and due to hardship, we had lost our hearing and sight. We presented ourselves to the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), but none of them accepted us. Then we came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he took us to his house. There were three goats in the house of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Milk these goats." So we used to milk them, and each of us would drink his share of the milk, and we would set aside the share of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The narrator says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would come at night and greet in such a manner that the one who was sleeping would not wake up, and the one who was awake would hear his greeting. Then he would go to the mosque and pray, then come to his milk and drink it.
One night, Satan came while I had already drunk my share of the milk. Satan said, "Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) goes to the Ansar, and they give him gifts, and whatever he needs, he gets. What need does he have for this one sip of milk?" (As a result of this temptation from Satan), I went and drank that milk. When the milk entered my stomach and I was certain that now there was no way for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to get the milk, Satan made me feel regret and said, "Woe to you! What have you done? You have drunk the share of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). He will come and not find the milk, and he will curse you, and you will be destroyed, and your world and Hereafter will be ruined."
I had a sheet; when I covered my feet with it, my head would be uncovered, and when I covered my head, my feet would be uncovered. I was also feeling sleepy, while my two companions were sleeping; they had not done what I had done. Eventually, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came, prayed, then went to his milk, opened the vessel, but found nothing in it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his blessed head towards the sky. I said in my heart, "Now he will curse me, and I will be destroyed." But the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "O Allah! Feed the one who feeds me, and give drink to the one who gives me drink." (When I heard this) I tied my sheet tightly, then took a knife and went towards the goats to slaughter the fattest one for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I saw that one of its udders was full of milk, rather, all the goats' udders were full of milk. Then I took a vessel from the house, one in which milk was not usually milked, and I milked into that vessel until the froth of the milk rose to the top. Then I presented myself to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He said, "Did you drink your share of the milk at night?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Please drink the milk, then I will tell you what happened." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drank the milk, then gave it to me. When I knew that you were satisfied and I had received your supplication, I laughed so much that I rolled on the ground with joy. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "O Miqdad! This is a bad habit of yours." I said, "O Messenger of Allah! This is what happened to me, and I did this." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "This milk at that time was nothing but mercy. Why did you not tell me earlier so that we could wake our companions and they could also drink from it?" I said, "By the One Who sent you with the truth, when you have drunk this milk and I have also drunk it, I care for nothing else (i.e., I have attained Allah's mercy, so now I do not care (out of happiness) whether anyone else among the people attains this mercy or not)."
