It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, his companions (may Allah be pleased with them) became ill. Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him), his freed slave Amir bin Fuhairah, and Bilal also became ill. Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) sought permission from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to visit these people for inquiry, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted her permission. She asked Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him), "How are you feeling?" He recited this verse: "Every person wakes up among his family while death is closer to him than the strap of his sandal." Then I asked Amir, and he recited this verse: "I feel death before tasting its bitterness, and the graveyard has come close to my mouth." Then I asked Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) about his condition, and he recited this verse: "Alas! How would I know if I will ever spend a night again in Fakh, with 'Idhkhir' and 'Jaleel' grass around me, and will Shamah and Tufail ever become clear before me? O Allah! Curse Utbah bin Rabi'ah, Shaybah bin Rabi'ah, and Umayyah bin Khalaf, just as they expelled us from Makkah Mukarramah." Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) went to the court of Prophethood and informed him of their words. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked towards the sky and said, "O Allah! Make Madinah Munawwarah beloved to us as You made Makkah beloved, or even more so, even more so. O Allah! Bless the sa' and mudd of Madinah and transfer its epidemic to Juhfah." The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fell ill, I began to recite over him the same words for healing with which Hazrat Jibreel (peace be upon him) used to heal him: "O Lord of the people! Remove this pain. Grant him healing, for You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing. Grant such a healing that leaves no trace of illness." When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was afflicted with the illness of his passing, I took his blessed hand and began to recite this supplication, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Remove your hand. This could only benefit me up to a certain appointed time."
