Narrations Regarding Arrogance

٢٨٢٧٨ - حدثنا ابو خالد الاحمر عن حجاج عن فضيل عن إبراهيم عن علقمة عن عبد الله قال: لا يدخل الجنة من كان في قلبه مثقال حبة خردل من كبر (١).

(١) منقطع حكمًا؛ حجاج مدلس، أخرجه أحمد (٤٣١٠)، والمزي ٢٣/ ٢٨٠، وأبو يعلى (٥٢٨٩) من طريق الحجاج مرفوعًا، وأخرجه مرفوعًا الإمام مسلم (٩١)، وابن حبان (٥٤٦٦)، والترمذي (١٩٩٩)، وأبو عوانة (٨٥)، والبزار (١٥٨٤)، والشاشي (٣٢٧)، والبخاري في التاريخ ٥/ ٢، وأبو الشيخ في تاريخ أصبهان ٤/ ٢٨٤، وأبو نعيم في تاريخ أصبهان ٢/ ١٥٤، والطحاوي (٥٥٥٧) من حديث فضيل، وانظر: ما سيأتي برقم: [٢٨٢٨٠].
Hazrat Alqamah narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) said: That person will not enter Paradise who has even a mustard seed's weight of arrogance in his heart.

٢٨٢٧٩ - حدثنا ابن فضيل عن عطاء بن السائب عن الاغر ابي مسلم عن ابي هريرة عن النبي ﷺ يقول الله:"العظمة إزاري والكبرياء ردائي فمن نازعني واحدا منهما القيته في النار" (١).

(١) ضعيف؛ روى ابن فضيل عن عطاء بعد اختلاطه، والحديث أخرجه مسلم (٢٦٢٠)، وأحمد (٧٣٨٢).
Hazrat Abu Huraira narrates that the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Allah, the Lord of Majesty, says: Grandeur is My lower garment and Majesty is My cloak. Whoever tries to seize any of these from Me, I will cast him into Hell.

٢٨٢٨٠ - حدثنا عفان قال: حدثنا عبد العزيز بن مسلم عن الاعمش عن إبراهيم عن علقمة عن عبد الله قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ:"لا يدخل الجنة احد في قلبه مثقال حبة (خردل) (١) (من كبر، ولا يدخل النار احد في قلبه مثقال حبة خردل من ايمان) (٢)" (٣).

(٣) صحيح؛ أخرجه مسلم (٩١)، وأحمد (٣٩١٣).
Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No one will enter Paradise who has even a grain of arrogance in his heart, and no one will enter Hell who has even a mustard seed's weight of faith in his heart.

٢٨٢٨١ - حدثنا علي بن مسهر عن ابي حيان عن ابيه قال: التقى عبد الله بن عمرو وابن عمر فانتجيا بينهما ثم انصرف كل واحد منهما إلى اصحابه فانصرف ابن عمر وهو (يبكي) (١) (فقالوا) (٢) له: ما يبكيك؛ قال: ابكاني الذي زعم (هذا) (٣) انه سمعه (من) (٤) رسول الله ﷺ:"لا يدخل الجنة احد في قلبه مثقال حبة خردل من كبر" (٥).

(٥) مجهول؛ لجهالة والد أبي حيان، أخرجه أحمد (٦٥٢٦)، وهناد في الزهد (٨٣١)، والطبراني كما في مجمع الزوائد (١/ ٩٨).
Hazrat Saeed bin Hayan Taimi narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) met each other, and they whispered to each other, then each of them returned to his companions. And Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) returned in such a state that he was weeping. People asked him: What made you weep? He replied: The person who says that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: No one will enter Paradise who has even a mustard seed's weight of arrogance in his heart, made me weep.

٢٨٢٨٢ - حدثنا ابو خالد الاحمر عن ابن عجلان عن عمرو بن شعيب عن ابيه عن جده قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ:"يجيء المتكبرون يوم القيامة ذرا مثل صور الرجال، يعلوهم كل شيء من الصغار"، (قال) (١):"ثم يساقون إلى سجن جهنم يقال له بولس، تعلوهم نار الانيار يسقون من طينة الخبال عصارة اهل (النار)" (٢) (٣).

(٣) حسن؛ لحال أبي خالد وابن عجلان وشعيب، أخرجه أحمد (٦٦٧٧)، والترمذي (٢٤٩٢)، والحميدي (٥٩٨)، والبخاري في الأدب المفرد (٥٥٧)، وابن المبارك في الزهد (١٩١)، والبيهقي في الشعب (٨١٨٣)، والدينوري في المجالسة (١٩٥٧)، والبغوي (٣٥٩٥)، وابن أبي الدنيا في التواضع (٢٢٣).
Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The arrogant will come on the Day of Resurrection like tiny ants in the form of men. Every kind of humiliation will overpower them. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then they will be driven towards a prison in Hell called "Boulas." The great fire of Allah will engulf them. They will be given the leftover water of the people of Hell to drink.

٢٨٢٨٣ - حدثنا ابن إدريس وابن عيينة وابو خالد الاحمر عن ابن عجلان عن (بكير) (١) بن عبد الله بن الاشج عن معمر بن ابي (حبيبة) (٢) عن (عبيد الله) (٣) بن عدي بن الخيار قال: قال عمر: إن العبد إذا تعظم وعدا طوره وهصه الله إلى الارض وقال:"اخسا (اخساك) (٤) الله، فهو في نفسه كبير، وفي انفس الناس صغير، حتى لهو احقر حند الناس من خنزير" (٥).

Hazrat Ubaidullah bin Adi bin Khiyar narrates that Hazrat Umar said: Surely, when someone becomes arrogant and exceeds his limits, Allah, the Lord of Might, throws him down to the earth. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You scorn others, so Allah scorns you, for he considers himself great in his own eyes but becomes small in the eyes of people, until he becomes more despicable before people than a pig.

٢٨٢٨٤ - حدثنا غندر عن شعبة عن يعلى بن عطاء قال: سمعت نافع بن عاصم عن عبد الله بن عمرو قال: لا يدخل حظيرة القدس متكبر (١).

Hazrat Nafi' bin Asim narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The arrogant person will not enter Paradise.
