It is narrated from Hazrat Sha'bi that Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) used to consider slaves and the People of the Book as those who are prevented from inheritance, but he did not make them heirs.

33236 - From Ibn Abi Layla, from al-Sha'bi, from Ibn Mas'ud that he used to observe seclusion (hijab) with slaves and People of the Book, and he would not give them inheritance (1).

It is narrated from Hazrat A'mash that Ibrahim reported the statement of Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him): When a man dies and leaves his father or brother or son in a state of slavery and leaves no other heir, then he should be purchased, then set free, and then made the heir.

It is narrated from Muhammad that Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said regarding the man who, at the time of his death, left his father in a state of slavery, that he should be purchased from his wealth, then set free, and then made an heir. The narrator says that Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) also held the same opinion.

33239 - He said: And Al-Hasan used to say it.

Ibrahim has narrated the same thing from Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) through another chain of transmission.
