One Who Forbids Burning with Fire

٣٥٣٥٤ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: ثنا عبد الرحيم بن سليمان عن محمد بن إسحاق عن يزيد بن ابي حبيب عن بكير بن عبد الله بن الاشج عن ابي إسحاق إبراهيم الدوسي (عن ابي هريرة الدوسي) (١) قال: بعثنا رسول الله ﷺ في سرية وقال:"إن ظفرتم بفلان وفلان فاحرقوهما بالنار"، حتى إذا كان الغد بعث إلينا:"إني كنت امرتكم بتحريق هذين الرجلين، ورايت انه لا ينبغي ان يعذب بالنار إلا الله، فإن ظفرتم بهما فاقتلوهما" (٢).

(٢) مجهول؛ لجهالة أبي إسحاق إبراهيم الدوسي، أخرجه الدارمي (٢٤٦١)، وابن حبان (٥٦١١)، والطبري في مسند علي من تهذيب الآثار (١٣٨)، وابن النحاس في الناسخ (٥٥١)، والخطيب في الأسماء المبهمة ٧/ ٤٦١، وأصله عند البخاري (٣٥١٦)، وأبي داود (٢٦٦٧)، وأحمد (٨٠٥٤)، والترمذي (١٥٧١)، والنسائي (٨٦١٣) من حديث بكير عن سليمان بن يسار عن أبي هريرة.
Hazrat Abu Hurairah Dosi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent us with an army and said: If you gain victory over such and such persons, then burn those two men. When the next day came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a messenger to us saying: I had ordered you to burn those two men, but now I think that punishing with fire is not appropriate for anyone except Allah. So if you gain victory over them, then kill them both.

٣٥٣٥٥ - حدثنا ابن عيينة عن ايوب عن عكرمة عن ابن عباس انه ذكر ناسا احرقهم علي، فقال: لو كنت انا لم احرقهم بالنار، لقول رسول الله ﷺ:"لا تعذبوا بعذاب الله"، ولو كنت انا لقتلتهم لقول رسول الله ﷺ:"من بدل دينه فاقتلوه" (١).
ريفرينس و تحكيم الحدیث:
(١) صحيح؛ أخرجه البخاري (٦٩٢٢)، وأحمد (٢٥٥١).
Hazrat Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) mentioned those people whom Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) had burnt, then said: If I had been there, I would never have burnt those people, because of the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "Do not punish with the punishment of Allah." And if I had been there, I would have killed them, because of the noble saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever changes his religion, kill him."

٣٥٣٥٦ - حدثنا ابو معاوية (حدثنا) (١) الشيباني عن الحسن بن سعد عن عبد الرحمن بن عبد الله بن مسعود عن ابيه قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ:"لا تعذبوا بالنار فإنه لا يعذب بالنار إلا ربها" (٢).

Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not punish with fire, for no one punishes with fire except the Lord of the servants.

٣٥٣٥٧ - حدثنا وكيع قال: ثنا المسعودي عن القاسم بن عبد الرحمن قال: بعث النبي ﷺ سوية فطلبوا رجلا فصعد شجرة فاحرقوها بالنار. فلما قدموا على النبي ﷺ اخبروه بذلك، فتغير وجه رسول الله ﷺ وقال:"إني لم ابعث اعذب بعذاب الله، إنما بعثت بضرب الرقاب وشد الوثاق" (١).

Hazrat Qasim bin Abdur Rahman (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) dispatched an army: so they searched for a man and he climbed up a tree, then they burned that tree with fire. When these people returned to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him of this, the face of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) changed, and he said: Surely, I have not been sent to punish in the manner of Allah’s punishment. Indeed, I have been sent to strike necks and to bind firmly.

٣٥٣٥٨ - حدثنا وكيع قال: (ثنا) (١) هشام الدستوائي عن سعيد (البزاز) (٢) عن (حيان بن عثمان) (٣) عن ام الدرداء انها ابصرت إنسانا اخذ نملة او برغوثا فالقاه في النار فقالت: إنه لا ينبغي لاحد ان يعذب بعذاب الله.

Hazrat Usman bin Hayan (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Umm Darda (may Allah be pleased with her) saw a person who caught a louse or a flea and threw it into the fire. She (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Surely, it is not appropriate for anyone to punish with Allah's punishment.

٣٥٣٥٩ - حدثنا وكيع قال: (ثنا) (١) سفيان عن منصور عن إبراهيم قال: كانوا يكرهون ان (تحرق) (٢) العقرب بالنار، ويقولون: مثلة.

Hazrat Mansur (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) considered it disliked to burn a scorpion in fire and used to say that it is a punishment of warning.

٣٥٣٦٠ - حدثنا وكيع قال: ثنا حريث عن يحيى بن عباد ابي هبيرة انه كره ان (يحرق) (١) العقرب بالنار.

Hazrat Harith (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Yahya bin Abbad Abu Hubaira considered it disliked to burn a scorpion in fire.
