Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates from Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no zakat on vegetables, there is no zakat on ‘araya’, there is no zakat on (grain) less than five wasq, there is no zakat on animals used for labor, and there is no zakat on the forehead." The narrator named Saqr bin Habib explains: By "forehead" is meant horses, mules, and slaves.

Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no obligatory zakat on the vegetables that grow from the earth."

Muhammad bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates regarding the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) to Yemen, he instructed him to collect one dinar out of every forty dinars, five dirhams out of every two hundred dirhams, and that zakat is not obligatory on less than five wasq, zakat is not obligatory on less than five camels, and zakat is not obligatory on vegetables.

Musa bin Talhah narrates from his father: The Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "There is no zakat obligatory on vegetables."

Musa bin Talhah narrates from his father: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no obligatory zakat on vegetables."

Musa bin Talha narrates from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no obligatory zakat on vegetables." The narrator of this narration, Marwan Sanjari, is weak.

Musa bin Talhah narrates regarding Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him: He stated: The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, has prescribed the payment of zakat in these four things: wheat, barley, raisins, and dates.

Musa bin Talhah narrates: We have a letter from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him), in which it is written regarding the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): He (peace be upon him) collected zakat from wheat, barley, raisins, and dates.

Musa bin Talha narrates from Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For land that is irrigated by rain, by 'ba'l' (planting a date palm near water so that the tree is watered by underground water itself), or by flowing water (such as a canal, etc.), payment of one-tenth (ushr) is obligatory. For land that is irrigated by sprinkling water (i.e., by artificial means), payment of half of one-tenth is obligatory. Payment of zakat is obligatory on dates, wheat, and grains, but it is exempted for cucumber, watermelon, apple, sugarcane, and other vegetables; the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) has exempted it."

Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "There is no zakat obligatory on vegetables."
