Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not permissible to make a bequest in favor of an heir, except if the other heirs agree (to it)."

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "There can be no bequest for an heir." The narration being "mursal" is correct.

Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A debt will be paid off before a bequest is fulfilled, and no bequest will be made for an heir."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No bequest can be made in favor of an heir."

Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, narrates from his grandfather that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said in his sermon on the day of sacrifice: "A bequest cannot be made in favor of an heir, except if the other heirs permit it."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not permissible to make a bequest in favor of an heir, except if the other heirs agree (to it)."

Ata bin Yasar narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) rode to Quba in order to seek guidance regarding the inheritance of his paternal and maternal aunts. Then Allah Almighty revealed the command that neither of them would receive inheritance.

Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I have not found anything for this (i.e., I have not found any command regarding giving it in inheritance)."

Hisham bin Urwah narrates from his father that Sayyiduna Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) stated that this verse was revealed about us: "And blood relatives are heirs of one another (this is the command in Allah's Book)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made two Muhajir and one Ansari brothers to each other, so we had no doubt that we would inherit from one another, meaning if Sayyiduna Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away and had no heir, I thought that I would become his heir, and if I died, then likewise he would become my heir, until this verse was revealed.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the inheritance of the paternal and maternal aunts. He replied: "I do not have knowledge about this; Jibreel (peace be upon him) will come and inform me about it." Then he said: "Where is the person who asked about the inheritance of the paternal and maternal aunts?" That person was brought, and the Prophet said: "Jibreel (peace be upon him) has informed me that neither of them will receive anything (i.e., they will not inherit)." This narration has only been transmitted by a narrator named Mas'adah from Muhammad bin Amr, and this narrator is weak. The correct view is that this narration is "mursal."
