Chapter on Hajj and Umrah on Behalf of Others – On Permitting Hajj for One Unable to Perform It Himself Due to Old Age
Hadith Number: 3994
اخبرنا محمد بن عبد الله بن الجنيد ببست، قال: حدثنا قتيبة بن سعيد ، قال: حدثنا ابو الاحوص ، عن سماك ، عن عكرمة ، عن ابن عباس ، قال: جاء رجل إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال: يا رسول الله، إن ابي شيخ كبير، لا يستطيع الحج، افاحج عنه؟، قال:" نعم، حج مكان ابيك" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: A man came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! My father is an old, elderly man; he does not have the ability to perform Hajj. Should I perform Hajj on his behalf? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes! Perform Hajj in place of your father.
