Chapter on Setting Out and the Manner of Jihad – On the command to kill those who have reached puberty in enemy territory and to overlook those who have not.
Hadith Number: 4781
اخبرنا ابو يعلى ، حدثنا ابو خيثمة ، حدثنا جرير ، عن عبد الملك بن عمير ، عن عطية القرظي ، قال: كنت فيمن حكم فيهم سعد بن معاذ، فشكوا في امن الذرية انا ام من المقاتلة؟ فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " انظروا، فإن كان انبت الشعر فاقتلوه، وإلا فلا تقتلوه" .
Atiyyah Qarazi reports: I was among those about whom Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) had given a verdict. The people doubted about me whether I was a minor or would be counted among the fighting men. So the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Examine this—if he has grown pubic hair, then kill him; if not, then do not kill him.
