It is narrated from Hazrat Dihyah Kalbi (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I submitted in the presence of the Messenger of Allah, "O Messenger of Allah! Should I not do this: let me mount a donkey on a horse (let them mate), so that a mule is produced and you may ride on it?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "This is done by those people who do not know anything."

Urfaajah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I was in a house where Utbah bin Farqad was also present. I intended to narrate a hadith there, but there was also a companion of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) present, and he was more entitled to narrate that hadith. So he narrated this hadith: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "In the month of Ramadan, the gates of the heavens are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and every rebellious devil is chained. And every night a caller announces: O seeker of good, proceed! And O seeker of evil, desist!"

It is narrated from Hazrat Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a Bedouin came, made his she-camel sit down, tied it, and joined the prayer behind the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). After finishing the prayer, he came to his mount, untied its rope, and mounted it. Then he loudly supplicated: "O Allah! Send Your mercy upon me and upon Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and do not include anyone else with us in this mercy." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the companions (may Allah be pleased with them): "Tell me, is this man more ignorant or his camel? Did you not hear what he said?" The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said: "Why not?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You wanted to limit Allah's vast mercy, whereas Allah Almighty has created one hundred mercies, of which He has sent down one mercy, and as a result, all creatures—jinn, humans, and even animals—show mercy and kindness to one another. The remaining ninety-nine mercies are with Him. Now tell me, is he more ignorant or his camel?"
