It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once Fatimah bint Hubaysh (may Allah be pleased with her) came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "My menstrual bleeding continues all the time." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "This is not menstruation, it is blood from a vein. Therefore, during the days of menstruation, leave the prayer, and after that, perform ghusl and do wudu for every prayer and offer the prayer, even if drops of blood fall on the mat."

Umm al-Mu’minin Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that whenever the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to go on a journey, he would draw lots among his wives, and the wife whose name was drawn would accompany him. On one occasion, during a jihad, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drew lots and my name was drawn, so I set out with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Since the command of veiling had already been revealed, I would ride inside a howdah, which would be lifted and set down as it was. In this manner, we continued our journey. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) finished that jihad and returned, and when we were near Madinah Munawwarah, one night the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) announced the departure. After the announcement, I got up and went ahead of the army to relieve myself, and after relieving myself, I returned to my camel-litter. When I touched my chest, I realized that my necklace made in the region of Zafar had broken and fallen somewhere. I went back to search for the necklace, and because of searching for it, I could not return quickly. Meanwhile, those who used to make me ride the camel-litter lifted my howdah and placed it on the camel I used to ride, thinking that I was inside the howdah, because at that time women were light and not heavy or bulky, as their food was little. That is why, when they lifted it, they did not realize (I was not inside), and I was a young girl at that time. The people set off with the camel, and after the army had left, I found my necklace. When I returned to the camp, I found no one there. So I decided to sit at the same place where I had dismounted, thinking that when they would not find me, they would come back to me. While sitting there, I was overcome by sleep and fell asleep. Hazrat Safwan bin Mu’attal (may Allah be pleased with him) had stayed behind the army. In the morning, he came to my place and, seeing the body of a sleeping person, recognized me, as he had seen me before the command of veiling was revealed. Recognizing me, he recited“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.”I woke up at his voice and covered my face with my sheet. By Allah, apart from this, I did not speak to him, nor did he say a word to me. Then he made his camel kneel down, placed his foot on the front leg of the camel (so it would not get up), I stood up and mounted the camel, and he led the camel by the halter, walking ahead until, in the heat of midday, we reached the army, who had camped at a place. Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that after this, some people perished by slandering me, and the real instigator of this turmoil was the chief of the hypocrites, Abdullah bin Ubayy. Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that when we reached Madinah Munawwarah, I fell ill for a month, and people were spreading the words of the slanderers, but I was unaware of it. However, during my illness, I did feel suspicious, because the kindness I used to see from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) during previous illnesses, I did not see during this illness. He would only come, greet me, and ask,“How are you?”and then leave. This made me suspicious, but I had no knowledge of any evil. Eventually, when I recovered a little, I went out with the mother of Mistah to the open field to relieve ourselves, as the open field was the place for relieving oneself, and we would only go there at night. This was at a time when there were no toilets near the houses, and the old custom was that we found it difficult to build toilets. Umm Mistah was the daughter of Abu Ruhm bin Abdul Muttalib and the wife of Uthatha bin Abbad bin Muttalib. Umm Mistah’s mother was the daughter of Sakhr bin Amir and was the maternal aunt of Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). When we both finished and came near our house, Umm Mistah’s foot got entangled in her sheet and she fell. As she fell, she said,“Mistah is ruined!”I said,“What are you saying? Are you speaking ill of a man who participated in the Battle of Badr?”She said,“O foolish girl, have you not heard what Mistah has said?”I asked,“What has Mistah said?”So Umm Mistah informed me of the words of the slanderers. Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that upon hearing this, my illness increased. When I came home and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came, greeted me, and asked about my condition, I said,“If you permit me, then…”

Bahz narrated to us, he said: Ibrahim ibn Sa’d narrated to me, from Salih—Bahz said: I said to him,“Ibn Kaysan?”He said: Yes—from Ibn Shihab, he said: ‘Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, Sa’id ibn al-Musayyab, ‘Alqamah ibn Waqqas, and ‘Ubaydullah ibn ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Utbah narrated to me from Aisha, the wife of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, regarding when the people of the slander said what they said to her, and Allah declared her innocent. All of them narrated to me a portion of her narration, and some of them were more precise in her narration than others, and more established in relating it in detail. I have memorized from each man among them the narration he related to me from Aisha, and some of their narrations confirm others, even if some of them were more precise than others. They said: Aisha said: Whenever the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, intended to travel, he would cast lots among his wives, and whichever of them the lot fell upon, he would take her with him. Then he mentioned the narration, except that he said: He announced the night of departure, so I got up when they announced the departure. And he said: From the valley of Dhafar. And he said: They would be made ready. And he said: So I headed to my place. And he said: ‘Urwah said: I was informed that it was being spread and talked about in his presence, and he would acknowledge it and listen to it and seek more of it. And ‘Urwah said: Also, none of the people of the slander were named except Hassaan ibn Thabit, Mistah ibn Uthathah, and Hamnah bint Jahsh, among other people whom I do not know, except that they were a group, as Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said. And the chief among them, it was said, was with ‘Abdullah ibn Ubayy ibn Salul. ‘Urwah said: And Aisha used to dislike that Hassaan be insulted in her presence, and she would say: He is the one who said:“Indeed, my father and his father and my honor are a protection for the honor of Muhammad from you.”And she said: Our affair is the affair of the earliest Arabs in keeping away (from such things). And he said: She had co-wives. And he said: By what he knows of the innocence of his family. And he said: Then the domesticated animal would come and eat it. And he said: Even if he was from our brothers, the Khazraj. And he said: Then a man from the Khazraj stood up, and the mother of Hassaan was his paternal cousin from his clan, and he was Sa’d ibn ‘Ubadah, and he was the chief of the Khazraj. She said: And before that he was a righteous man, but zeal carried him away. And he said: My tears dried up. And he said: Her sister Hamnah began to fight for her. And ‘Urwah said: Aisha said: By Allah, the man about whom what was said was said, would say:“Glory be to Allah! By Him in Whose hand is my soul, I have never uncovered the private parts of a woman.”She said: Then after that he was killed in the path of Allah as a martyr.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that since I became conscious, I found my parents always following the religion, and there was never a day that the Messenger of Allah did not come to our house in both parts of the day, that is, morning and evening. But when the Muslims began to be persecuted more severely, Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) set out with the intention of migrating to the land of Habash (Abyssinia). At the place of Bark al-Ghamad, he met Ibn Daghna, the chief of the tribe of Qarah, who said, "O Abu Bakr! Where are you intending to go?" Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "My people have expelled me..." Then she mentioned the complete hadith.
Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that at that time the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was in Makkah, and he had told the Muslims, "The place of your migration has been shown to me in a dream; it is situated between two rocky tracts and has many date-palm trees." So those who migrated to Madinah did so, and those who had left their homeland and gone to Habash also returned to Madinah, and Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) also began preparations to migrate to Madinah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, "Wait a little! I hope I will also be granted permission to migrate." Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "May my parents be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah, do you hope for this?" He replied, "Yes!" So Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) waited to accompany him, and he fed two she-camels leaves of the acacia tree and kept them ready for four months.
One day, during the intense heat of midday, we were sitting inside the house when someone said to Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has come." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came at a time when he usually did not come, with his face covered. Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "May my parents be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah, you have come at this time for some important matter?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for permission to enter, and Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) granted it. When he entered, he said, "Send out those who are with you, for I have something confidential to say." Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "They are only my family." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I have been granted permission to migrate from here." Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Will I have the honor of companionship?" He replied, "Yes!" Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), may my parents be sacrificed for you, take one of these two she-camels." He said, "I will buy it."
Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that we quickly prepared the provisions for their journey and prepared a food bag. Asma cut a piece from her waistband and tied the mouth of the bag with it; because of this, she was called "Dhat an-Nitaq." Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that after this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) went to the cave of Thawr and remained hidden there for three days and nights.
Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that at that time the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was in Makkah, and he had told the Muslims, "The place of your migration has been shown to me in a dream; it is situated between two rocky tracts and has many date-palm trees." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for permission to enter, and Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) granted it.
