حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا عمرو بن دينار ، قال: اخبرني سالم بن شوال ، عن ام حبيبة زوجة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، انها قالت: " كنا نفعله على عهد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم نغلس من المزدلفة إلى منى" . قال سفيان: وسالم بن شوال رجل من اهل مكة لم نسمع احدا يحدث عنه، إلا عمرو بن دينار بهذا الحديث.
The noble wife of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Sayyidah Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her), narrates: During the blessed time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), we used to depart from Muzdalifah towards Mina in the early morning darkness. Sufyan says: The narrator named Salim bin Shawwal is a person from Makkah. I have not heard anyone narrate from him except that Amr bin Dinar has narrated this hadith from him.

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا ايوب بن موسى ، قال: اخبرني حميد بن نافع ، عن زينب بنت ابي سلمة ، قالت: لما جاء نعي ابي سفيان من الشام دعت ام حبيبة بصفرة في اليوم الثالث، فمسحت به عارضيها وذراعيها، وقالت: إني كنت عن هذا لغنية لولا اني سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: " لا يحل لامراة تؤمن بالله واليوم الآخر ان تحد على ميت فوق ثلاث إلا على زوج، فإنها تحد عليه اربعة اشهر وعشرا" , فقيل لسفيان: فإن مالكا ، يقول فيه: عن حميد بن نافع ، عن زينب بنت جحش ، وعن صفية ، وام حبيبة ، فقال سفيان: ما قال لنا ايوب بن موسى , إلا ام حبيبة.
Sayyida Zaynab bint Abu Salama (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When the news of the death of Sayyiduna Abu Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) came from Syria, Sayyida Umm Habiba (may Allah be pleased with her) on the third day asked for yellow color and applied it to her cheeks and wrists, and she stated: I had no need for it, but I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "It is not permissible for any woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to mourn for anyone who dies for more than three days, except for her husband, for whom she will mourn for four months and ten days." Sufyan was told: Imam Malik has said about this narration that it is transmitted from Hamid bin Nafi’ from Sayyida Zaynab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her), or from Sayyida Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), or from Sayyida Umm Habiba (may Allah be pleased with her). So Sufyan said: Ayub bin Musa narrated this to us mentioning only Sayyida Umm Habiba (may Allah be pleased with her).

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا هشام بن عروة ، عن ابيه ، عن زينب بنت ابي سلمة ، عن ام حبيبة زوج النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، انها قالت: يا رسول الله! هل لك في درة بنت ابي سفيان؟ قال:" فافعل ماذا؟" , قالت: قلت: تنكحها، قال:" او تحبين ذلك؟" , قلت: لست لك بمخلية، واحب من يشركني فيك اختي، قال:" فإنها لا تحل لي"، قلت: فإنه قد بلغني انك تخطب زينب بنت ابي سلمة، فقال:" ابنة ام سلمة؟" , قلت: نعم، قال:" فوالله لو لم تكن ربيبتي في حجري ما حلت لي، لقد ارضعتني واباها ثويبة، فلا تعرضن علي بناتكن ولا اخواتكن" .
Sayyida Zaynab bint Abu Salama (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates the statement of Sayyida Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: O Messenger of Allah! Are you interested in marrying“Durrah,”the daughter of Abu Sufyan? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“What should I do?”Sayyida Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: You should marry her. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked:“Do you like this?”I replied: I am not your only wife; I wish that my sister also becomes my partner. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“She is not lawful for me.”So I said: I have heard that you are going to send a marriage proposal for Zaynab bint Abu Salama. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked:“For the daughter of Umm Salama?”I replied: Yes. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“By Allah! Even if she were not my stepdaughter, she would still not be lawful for me, because both her father and I were suckled by Thuwaibah. Do not present your daughters or sisters to me for marriage.”
