Hadith Number 478
Hadith Number: 478
وقال سفيان : وحدثنيه ابن جريج ، عن عطاء ، عن ابن عباس مثله، إلى قوله: فاخلفني فجعلني عن يمينه، فصلى، فقال له عمرو بن دينار: وكان في المجلس هيه زد يا ابا محمد، فقال عطاء: ما هيه؟ هكذا سمعت، فقال عمرو : اخبرني كريب ، عن ابن عباس ، انه قال: ثم اضطجع، فنام حتى نفخ ثم اتاه بلال، فآذنه بالصلاة فصلى ولم يتوضا،
The same narration is also transmitted with another chain from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), in similar words, in which it is stated: "The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made me stand on his right side from behind him and performed the prayer." When Ata bin Abi Rabah narrated this narration, Amr bin Dinar Makki was also sitting there, then he said: O Sheikh Abu Muhammad! Please narrate more as well, so Ata said: What more should I narrate? I have heard it just like this. Then Amr informed: Kuraib has narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) lay down and slept, to the extent that he began to snore. Then Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and called him for prayer, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went, performed the prayer, and did not perform ablution again.

فقال سفيان: هذا للنبي خاصة، لان النبي تنام عينه ولا ينام قلبه.
Sufyan bin ‘Uyaynah says: This ruling is specific to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), because the eyes of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to sleep, but his blessed heart did not sleep.

قال سفيان : وان عمرا حدثنا، انه سمع عبيد بن عمير ، يقول: " رؤيا الانبياء وحي، وقرا: إني ارى في المنام اني اذبحك سورة الصافات آية 102" .
Sufyan says: Amr bin Dinar has informed us that he heard Ubaid bin Umair say: The dreams of the noble Prophets are revelation, and he recited this verse as evidence: «إِنِّي أَرَى فِي الْمَنَامِ أَنِّي أَذْبَحُكَ» "I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you."

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا الزهري ، وحفظته منه، قال: اخبرني عبيد الله بن عبد الله ، عن ابن عباس ، قال:" جئت انا والفضل على اتان ورسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بعرفة، فمررنا على بعض الصف، فنزلنا فتركناها ترتع، ودخلنا مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في الصلاة، فلم يقل لنا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم شيئا" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I and Sayyiduna Fadl bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) came riding on a donkey, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was at that time in Arafah, we passed in front of part of a row, we dismounted from it and left it to graze. We joined the prayer behind the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not say anything to us.

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا ايوب السختياني ، قال: سمعت عطاء بن ابي رباح ، يقول: سمعت ابن عباس ، يقول:" اشهد على رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، انه صلى قبل الخطبة يوم العيد، ثم خطب، فراى انه لم يسمع النساء، فاتاهن فوعظهن وذكرهن وامرهن بالصدقة، ومعه بلال قائل بثوبه، هكذا" , قال ابو بكر: كان يتلقى بثوبه، فجعلت المراة تلقي الخاتم، والخرص، والشيء.
Ata bin Rabah narrates: I heard Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) saying, I bear witness regarding the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) that he performed the prayer before the sermon on the day of Eid, then he delivered the sermon. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) realized that perhaps his voice had not reached the women, so he went to them, preached to them, and instructed them to give charity. Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who had spread out his garment in this manner.
Imam Humaydi (may Allah have mercy on him) says: That is, he had spread out his garment, so the women began to put their rings, earrings, and other things into it.

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا ايوب السختياني ، قال: سمعت عكرمة ، يقول: سمعت ابن عباس ، يقول:" رايت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يسجد في ص، وليست من عزائم السجود" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performing the prostration of recitation in Surah Sad, however, it is not an obligatory prostration.

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا عمرو ، قال: سمعت سعيد بن الحويرث ، يقول: سمعت ابن عباس ، يقول: كنا عند رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فخرج من الغائط، فاتي بطعام، فقيل له الا توضا؟ فقال:" لم اصل فاتوضا" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: We were present with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), he returned after relieving himself, and food was presented to him. It was said to him, "Will you not perform ablution?" So the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am not about to pray, so why should I perform ablution?"

حدثنا حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا هشام بن عروة ، عن ابيه ، ان عمر اتى الغائط، ثم خرج، فاتي بطعام فقيل له الا تتوضا؟ فقال:" إنما استطيب بشمالي، وإنما آكل بيميني" .
Hisham bin Urwah narrates from his father: Sayyiduna Umar went to relieve himself, and when he returned, food was presented to him. He was asked: "Will you not perform ablution?" He replied: "I cleansed myself with my left hand, and it is with my right hand that I eat."

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا عمرو ، قال: اخبرني ابو معبد ، قال: سمعت ابن عباس ، يقول: " ما كنا نعرف انقضاء صلاة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إلا بالتكبير" . قال عمرو: فذكرت بعد ذلك لابي معبد فانكره، وقال: لم احدثك به، فقلت: بلى قد حدثتنيه، قبل هذا، قال سفيان: كانه خشي على نفسه.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: We used to know that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) had finished his prayer by the takbir. The narrator named Amr bin Dinar says: I mentioned this narration before my teacher Abu Ma'mar, but he denied it and said: I did not narrate this hadith to you. I said: Yes, you have narrated this hadith to me before. Sufyan says: It was as if he had some apprehension regarding himself.

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا عاصم الاحول ، عن الشعبي ، عن ابن عباس ، قال:" رايت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم امر بدلو من زمزم، فنزع له فشرب وهو قائم" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). By his order, a bucket of Zamzam water was drawn. He (peace and blessings be upon him) drank it while standing.
